I am going to /sign that statement, as others have and will certainly continue to do so... The Vasari vs. Advent matchup relative to the Vasari vs. TEC matchup is likely to be the single greatest balance issue after this patch, and it will be almost entirely because of phase missiles...as has been mentioned countless times, the base damage of Vasari bombers is too high...not only is this because they wield PMs, but also because
I agree with the first part but limiting active SBs and preventing construction of more while there is an active SB should work. Making them require phase gates would still make them a better defensive tool than other SBs by far and also capable of offense under certain circumstances. Limiting them at least forces VR to give up defense to get an unequaled offense.
The problem here is that you would build up several starbases and ge
1. Subjugation - I like the idea but honestly it doesn't seem like it mind controls all the much and when it does it just spends most of the time messing up my fleet crafting rather then helping me. On the jumping Orkies, we bounced the idea around a few months back of requiring Phase Gates to move the Orkie. This would allow them to still be very viable on defense but require a lot of skill to use on the attack. Basically you would need either a Kostura shot or a level 6 Marauder to attack with them. A second level on their Phase Gate upgrade would help too.
I have always been a Kol skeptic and almost never build them. However, I have always had a nagging suspicion that there was a really good use for them once you stray outside of the normal MP game parameters (primarily the 1-2 hour time frame in which MP games usually get resolved). So I did some testing... My working hypothesis is that the Kol would be a great ship if it had enough antimatter. So I setup a scenario where I had a choke point defended with a starbase w
I find that fighters do a really good job of taking them out before they get to your defenses. However, if Adjudicators are giving you problems, you probably don't have enough of a fleet and are relying too heavily on static defenses. Add in a combination of repair cruisers, flak, and carriers at your choke point and you should do much better.
Phase Missile Swarm got a big buff in Rebellion - mostly because of the 4th level. At that level, it does 690 damage to 14 targets which is almost 10,000 damage with the press of a single button. Not quite to the level of the Marza's Missile Barrage, but it has a short cooldown and can't be interrupted either. It is now one of the best combat capital ship abilities in the game. And I have to agree with Timmaigh, the Vulkoras is the best looking ship in the ga

If you are facing a TEC or Advent opponent, you have to watch out for the anti-structure cruisers.
Titans are overpowered in the very late game - but this is by design, not an oversight by the developers. They are designed to break deadlocks and counter large frigate fleets. You really have to counter them with bombers, capital ships, and your own Titan. That said, the Eradica is in a league of its own when it comes to very late game overpoweredness. Unyielding Will was changed in 1.4 to starting kicking in once the Eradica takes signicant hull damage -

As the TEC rebels (and against the AI) your big military advantages mid to late game are the Ragnarov titan, excellent repair, and Missile Barrage on the Marza (probably in that order). Ragnarov - Snipe is a really good ability but the key here is Explosive Shot + Overcharge. You need to get the Ragnarov to level 7 to fully take advantage of this (4 levels of Explosive Shot + 1 level of Overcharge) but when you get it, you can kill large numbers of enemy frigate with a sing

Question on the strikecraft on you starting Cap. I use to go with a fighter but switched to a bomber because the militia flak kept shooting the fighter(s) down. Should I try and micro the fighter to keep it away from the flak instead?
overcharge + explosive shot, is that the one that does -8 armor or the massive bullet that makes all frigates bump back?
It's the massive bullet that causes the knock back. The key here is Overcharge. Overcharge doubles the damage Explosive Shot does AND doubles the range over which it does the damage. On level 4 (with Overcharge) Explosive Shot does 3200 points of damage to every target within 5000 km
ive seen time and time again my defenses and fleet just wiped off the map by the vasari and advent.
TEC have the best repair in the game and you need leverage it. The key tech for them here is Docking Booms. The repair they provide isn't all that good but the antimatter regeneration is awesome. Try this against the AI - build a defense cluster with a Starbase (maxed defense, guns, and 2 levels of Docking Booms) 4-5 repair platforms, a couple of h
I agree with you that a high level Eradica is ridiculus against large frigate fleets. Almost as ridiculus as The Maw + Micro Phase Jump on a Vorastra, Overcharge + Explosive Shot on a Ragnarov, or Nanoleech + Dissever on a Kultorask. You really have to fight these things with bombers...
Updated the ability descriptions of Inspire and Impair, Subjugation, Dissever, and Desperation to reflect the fact that these abilities do indeed affect Corvettes. Inspire and Impair and Subjugation do make some sense to me as it gives these somewhat less powerful Titans an edge in dealing with Corvettes. However, the splash damage from Desperation absolutely murders packs of Corvettes and, even worse, Dissever is an instant kill for all Corvettes in range in most cases.&n
Thanks Yarlen.
Updated for v1.1 changes (Group Shield, Chastic Burst, The Maw, and ability affects on Corvettes) I haven't yet had a chance to test these or look at the buff files - I made the changes based on what was in the change log. If anything here is wrong, please let me know.

It keeps its destruction potential and in most cases greatly increases the cost of using it. Although I suspect Shield Bestowal will become a very important tech for the Advent Rebels to keep their structures alive through a Wail. Corvette packs should now counter Titans. This should reduce the imbalances between the Titans somewhat as there are more ways to counter them. The Advent Loyalists look like they will be a lot stronger. Much better Deliverance Engine, economy improvement with Global Unity, and another way (corvettes) to counter the stronger faction's Titans. Vasari Rebel starbases get 'squishier' as you move them. I'm not sure I'm convinced that this will

If you have 4 more planets, you can build 2 more Novaliths than your opponent. This will cripple your opponents economy. Once his economy is crippled, you need to focus on the starbase(s) as they are the key component in the TEC defensive wall (Docking Booms replenishing his antimatter and Enforced Loyalty being the key abilities). One thing I would try is a suicide fleet of around 50 Orgovs that target the starbase. Plan on losing them, but make sure you have enough
