Civ5 patch got delayed. Maybe March 1; sometime in March.

Rarely play Sins at the moment, so my two cents for about what it's worth. The real game for me is still Vanilla Sins. Has more of the StarCrafty feel about it. Or maybe just impatient and lazy I am. Star bases slow down the game. Mines are tedious and annoying; get nothing out of them. Diplomacy to me is more tedium on the road to nowhere. Pirates suppose to be easy trash mobs to level with. Based on your post, where you were may be where you suppose to be. But max the fun an
1. Are save files still filled with huge repeating garbage strings? 2. Will it still make my 4850 run hot? Got in on pre-order, sorry I did. The tech problems really put me off the game. Give the patch a day or two and watch the postings. The release patch notes could be interesting as well; might be new info in them. Think the game has real potential, but think will need two full years to fix all the problems.
Played Guild Wars for nearly 6 years now. In all that time I have spent $27 on extra character slots in the company store. Plus the price of the Expansions. All F2P of course. GW 2 will also be F2P. A game can be F2P and at the same time well maintained and in development. This requires income from new game sales and a company store. GW does not sell anything that affects game play in their company store. New game sales require a dedicated player community that keeps the game alive an
I second Stmorpheus. Borderlands is simply unique, immersive, fun to play; for me over and over again. There is no heavy environment interaction, mainly shoot explosive barrels. Nor mainly urban. Never mind all that because the weapons truly make this game. Borderlands is all about the weapons. Gearbox had a retired Army Colonel on staff to guide them in weapons design. They then modified fully realistic weapons for smooth game play so that in the game world on the sc
Great trailer, thanks for the post. Looking forward to this one, I'm getting it. Also a big Borderlands fan. And Rage by Id is coming along presently. One thing to be cautious about. Borderlands looked really good in trailers and early game play videos. But when it came out it was cross platform and trimmed down even in the PC version to fit into console technology. DNF is also cross platform, so keep your finger's crossed. I hope what we are seeing is the game itself and not a develo
Never used anything except Windows Firewall plus free virus scanner and other free tools. Now running Avast! Free Edition plus occasional scans with MalwareBytes. No viruses ever. No worms. Maybe couple pieces of mild malware couple years ago. But also very conservative about sites I visit, try to keep a low internet profile.
X3 makes my computer very hot. Those stunning graphics come at a cost. To make any sense of x3 TC you need to haunt the forums and read a lot more guides and miscellaneous threads than is reasonable. Sins is crystal clear by comparison.
GOG having a sale too. They are starting to have some pretty good stuff in their list.
Play the demo. Me, I happen to think Civ 5 still needs a lot of work both technically and from the game play side. TBH, Civ 3 is better IMHO. Civ 4 BTS even better than that. Save your money.
A very impressive patch! Go go Firaxis! Shame it came out the way it did. So busy with other games that I probably won't be able to try this out anytime soon.
I do not want developer time wasted on photo realism. I do not want my system resources wasted on photo realism. Or anything close to it. WoW has always been easy on my eyes. Guild Wars too, although very different style.
Congratulations to you OMG_pacov! You have done a very good thing! I started playing WoW two weeks after the game first went live. Still the greatest computer game ever made, IMHO. I quit playing about a year and a half ago only because I had run a Druid and a Hunter through Wrath of the Lich King and decided to give it a rest. I will be playing Cataclysm, but not for another couple or three months. I have other fish to fry at the moment in Guild Wars. WoW is a very c
StarCraft Legacy has a strategy section in the forums. This is a very old site with helpful people. SCLegacy carefully checked every rumor of a SC2 for years! While remaining a center of sanity, far as I was concerned, in all aspects of the original StarCraft. The other sites mentioned above may have lots more material but SCLegacy is still where I look for wisdom. Or, just do this. Build some crap. Scout and see what crap the opponent is bui
Mac is more likely to show a profit, but never certain. Macs in my experience tend to attract people who are really not into gaming. Linux is more of a problem. Hacking to get a game up and running on the Linux box is the game. Actually playing it takes valuable time that could be spent hacking! Getting a Linux user to pay ... ah, ha ha ha! Did you say pay ? ROFL!
This was true of the original StarCraft as well. So, I turned to offline, making maps, modding ... but there was no way around the pig stupid AI. Even so it was a lot better than playing online. With SC 2 I could see the same old thing coming. So, gave it a pass, going to be an instant replay of earlier experience. And these days if I am going to hack, there are a lot better things to hack than StarCraft!
So there is an overwhelming yes. I voted yes. But an expansion that does what? Need to know that. An expansion that removed the 2 Gig limit and adopted many of the features of the better mods would seem to be a good idea. The engine change would be the most difficult. But being done, the popularity would be guaranteed. Much to be preferred to cooking up what nobody has even thought of and hoping that players might like it.
Well, at least they are doing something. Nothing said about optimizing code, too early for that I suppose. Think it will take another year or so to get this game to where it should have been at release. Mine is off my disk and likely to stay that way for a very long time.
I still piddle around with D2 and Torchlight. But to be honest I have lost all interest in Diablo III. It will be a better D2 with super graphics. But there are other games coming out sooner and even if it does show up earlier than expected I will probably be immersed in something else. Then too there is Kotick and Activision to think about. I never did buy StarCraft 2. Thought at first I might someday, but probably not.
No Stardock! Don't fix it. [insert cartoon of wilebill shooting fish in a barrel here] Best is pirates who forget to arm their ships, or leave ammo at home, fly their ships backwards, run into each other and explode!
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=390729 quote from John Shafer about the upcoming patch, whenever it gets released. More info to follow. Yes, 2k pushed it out the door. Yes, it is unfinished. Yes, the code stinks and needs work. It should begin to be a good game in about a year. Yeah, I've got it. Sorry I do. At the moment Civ III with mods is a better game, overlooking the graphics. Civ 4 BTS is
I got in at 3:18 am. Where is the cigar smoking dwarf Tinkerer? Initial impression is that the new version is going to be butt fugly. I was on the beta of the original version. Thus am prejudiced. The developers of the original version are mostly at Runic Studios working on Torchlight 2, due out sometime next year.
I played the old StarCraft 1 Broodwar many years ago. After the campaign I got into modding. It was incredible what the SC1 engine could do! Probably this winter I will pick up SC 2. I'll do the campaign, maybe online a bit. But then play with map making and the world editor. I think the greatest days of this game lie ahead. WoW in StarCraft 2, perhaps with assault rifles? Why not? This vid
Chuckle. When I saw your post I thought you meant Spellbinder the word processor that came with the old Eagle II CP/M computer. I got an Eagle II for cheap in 1984. That was before the FCC regulated computer emissions and the Eagle II could knock out television reception for a radius of four houses around me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Computer Say what you like about the thrill of computer gaming, but nothing l
Kael is rumored to be porting Fall From Heaven to Civ 5. Oodles and gobs of magic then! Kael has also made two cool mods for Civ 5 already. Added the Celts and the Legions mod. Unfortunately, neither mod will download and install for me. They are working on it.
