Well, it's a step in the right direction for sure. Now if they include a good editor and such, this could really take off. The normal Sims I played once in the first version for a few evenings. I borrowed it while a friend was away. Mostly I really didn't get it. I tried my best to make George happy. He hit on every woman he met. All hated him. George got more and more depressed. I decided I was not good at this sort of game. Then too, the weapons sucked. All I could find was some kin

www.gog.com is a good source of Good Old Games like the above. Note that Killap, The Bear Dude, has just released version 2.1.1 of the Restoration Project for Fallout 2 as of July 24, 2010. http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54328&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=2020&a

While in agreement with SpaghettiMon about Activision and Kotick, I don't think splitting the game into three parts is really an evil plot. The original StarCraft came out March 31 1998. Brood War came out November 1998. Was this done purely to milk players? Probably not. Brood War brought huge improvements but probably could not have been rolled into the original game release since the improvements were not yet thought of. Probably each Chapter of SC2 will bring its own set of improv

http://pc.ign.com/articles/110/1109117p1.html first impressions from IGN. On Youtube, JosefVStalin is doing a full playthrough of the campaign, in English. Josef is a very talented commentator who is also a devout StarCraft fan. Spoilers out the kazoonie of course, but if you want to see what the campaign is like ... HDStarCraft and HuskyStarCraft are two extremely excellent commentators with huge subscriber bases on YouTube. Keep an eye on them. They will be posting commente

Spaghettimon /sign Plus Brother Laz raised some issues with regard to modding by amateurs. They might fix this or not. No, I am not getting it. Activision, just say no. A huge number of people will, though. The game for me will be checking the forums from time to time. Should be a riot!

Well SpardaSon, Alien Swarm is indeed a great game. But it is online multiplayer cooperative. Even worse, it would require something like effort on my part!

You can still download the client, but you can also play a relaxing game of Progress Quest right in your web browser! Progress Quest reminds me of WoW, of Diablo ... of a lot of games really. Huge number of playable races and classes! Enormous beastiary and vast arsenal, armory, and items. Unbelievable number of quests, all of which get performed for you automatically. Graphics: Best there ever have been! Not a Click Fest: Choose your character and your class at the be

Not me! I have lots of old games that work offline, so to heck with multiplayer if that is the future. Note that ArenaNet does not charge a monthly fee for Guild Wars, and they have stated that there will be no monthly fee for Guild Wars 2. They will of course charge for major content updates and offer optional items in their company store as they have in the past. And new chapters are pricey. It is possible for an active company to make plenty of money without turning players

1 . The following comment is by Brother Laz on StarCraft 2 Beta, but taking into account currently announced changes for the retail release. Custom maps are a big part of StarCraft competitive gaming. Apparently you still need 3 copies of the game, 3 CD keys to have worldwide coverage for maps, mods, or to play in international competition. 2 . Blizzard has apparently given up on their requirement that people post on their forums with their real world,

Break my heart, ZehDon! The following ties in to what Ravenstrike said above about Blizzard coasting along on past successes, in a left hand sort of way. And Diablo 3 is at stake in all this too. Plus I've written about Median XL above as well. Median is popular and technically proficient enough that it was commented on by some of the Diablo 3 designers during an interview at Blizzcon 2009. <a class="external autonumber" title="http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/pc/games/1

Hero With a Thousand Faces is a very good book indeed. I'm not really into heavy RPG, but I played Dragon Age Origins all the way through and then started a second pass with some mods but about a third of the way through that was it. Could not stand hearing all those dialogues again. Played at the original Mass Effect, but it bored my socks off. I decided to lay off anything Bioware or anything else RPG. More of a mindless action oriented gamer I guess. No, I don't want to know about

Thanks Tridus. Doesn't need much salt because it is about what I would expect. Activision will continue to extend their control over Blizzard and morale will decline even further. And I think DethAdder is 100 percent correct. The only good news I've heard about StarCraft 2 is the Brother Laz of Median XL fame is thinking about doing a big mod for SC2. This would be single player only, but Brother Laz is a creative genius whom I respect a lot. SC2 prices for the basic game shou

I have used an S controller quite a bit. It works really great for certain types of games and the best part is it simply becomes an extension of your desires. Yes, I like controllers where they work with a game designed for them. And yet ... way back there I played Halo 1 on an XBox, and then later on got the PC version. For some reason, I found that game much easier to play on PC with a mouse and the keyboard. Borderlands ... watched a lot of videos of the game also and the o

KWAiRT , I am not "afraid" of cross platform per se in Diablo 3. However, there will be some limitations in the game itself that will arise from limited memory of the consoles, limitations in the CPU and the GPU, and a simplified control scheme. Brad Wardell has written about this in the context of generic games somewhere on this forum. Perhaps someone can remember which thread. If I gave the impression I was bashing a platform, I apologize. Borderlands is a go

There are some good threads on MOO3 over a www.gog.com in the Master of Orion section. One will tell you how to install the Tropical mod made by users that improves things a lot. Of course install the last official mod first. As for MOO2 there are some play throughs on youtube that will get you started. I have tried MOO3 with the best mods. Still a game that is clear as mud to me. Think I got to turn 150 once way back there and had not the slightest idea what I was doing. The

Guilty Pleasure, why I really play. I like to play with games rather than play games per se. Oh, sure I may finish a campaign, but the main reason to play is just to have fun. Now about the bashing ... I have put up a couple posts that were factual. There is some nasty stuff going on out there. People ought to know about it. But I think I know what you are talking about. The classic case was Hellgate London. I was on the test server from very early on, shortly after release an

Hard question. All of the games I play have good graphics, where "good" is what I say it is. Everyone else including reviewers and techno geeks can bugger off. There is a whole community over at Good Old Games that would more or less agree. Right now I'm playing a lot of Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction and the graphics look fine to me. I can well understand why so many rabid (are there any other kind?) D2 LoD fans view the upcoming D3 with great suspicion. Master of Orion 2 and 1

Steam does have some good specials sometimes. Looked just now. Nothing I want, though. The one game they have that I do want is also here and I'll just wait for Impulse to put it on sale. The steam list is fun to look through. Otherwise forget a lot of those games ever existed. Forums are sometimes worth reading. Another good place to look for good old games is Good Old Games, GOG, www.gog.com. This also has good forums for some of the old classic games. At the moment

Being a small company their development work must be aimed at maximizing revenue from game sales. The market for a new micro expansion for Sins is fairly small and getting smaller all the time. So ... a new game would seem the best idea. The article does suggest a land game or something other than a space game. I remember reading somewhere that way back at the very beginning of the StarCraft design process they discussed a space game. But at the time the technology was just not there.

Just me, but Fallout seems like a single player RPG experience. Roll in coop maybe, but why? My experience with MMO has been good, but you know why? I tend to run lone wolf in any MMO. If I join a guild it is always a guild of mostly lone wolf players. The value of a MMO to me is a well-maintained game where I only have to worry about having a client on my disk. Play a lot of WoW early on. Got my fill of raiding in those early days. My most recent return to WoW was over a year
