Children are supposed to inherit traits/professions from their same-gender parent, though that they'd get the stubborn trait when only the sovereign can escape battle to begin with (AFAIK) seems a bit odd.

Please provide the memory dump file, debug.err, etc., as noted in the reporting guide sticky.
Which screen did you select the tech on in the initial crash? Research window, breakthrough, etc.
Does it remain missing if you load a save of that game? If so, please provide it.
I agree, I did some memory editing
If you insist on doing that sort of thing, don't report any issues you cause unless they can be reproduced without that sort of manipulation.
How were you able to cast it a second time? It shouldn't be castable twice at all. Also, when reporting any crash please provide the memory dump file (if there isn't one, note such so we don't have to ask).
You can post dump files via dropbox as described in the reporting guide sticky. Also, please post debug.err files via dropbox or an external text host too so that the threads don't get too long that they're hard to read.
Some other users have reported that the build items appear if the game is run in windowed mode--give that a shot.
If you run into this again, please provide a savegame if the problem persists upon reloading it.
Somewhere around turn 160 in my game it stopped allowing me to build in my level 4 city, with all buildings greyed out due to tile requirements (even tile requirements of 1). There are two or three empty tiles that may be gardens (wherever I built them originally, they disappeared), however I cannot build on these. I am also unable to destroy buildings, as I receive a message that it will make my city non-contiguous (have tried on every building in my city, even a watch tower).[/quot
I think I have a similar issue, except I can't build anything at all right from the start.
See if running the game in windowed mode helps.
I was able to play one game for a while with a custom Sov. Things were going along fine with building and exploring then i had some random crash after I encountered my first 'neighbor' After that crash I am unable to build anything in a city without the game freezing up or CTD. I have started games wi
Are you sure you had sufficient resources? If you did, we'll need more detail about what context you encountered this under, as it does not seem to reproduce under normal circumstances.
Did this happen after you researched Harvesting? Several others have reported such an issue.
Edited title (design flaw with the lack of feedback on why the unit isn't available, not a bug).
If you have a save from before the crash that can reproduce this, it may be helpful.
Wondering if I should add my save or not, or is it common enough to not need one?
Please do. Always err on the side of "too much" detail--better to be able to ignore it than to have to ask and wait for it.
When reporting a crash, please provide detail/context as much as possible. Your debug.err file would also be helpful, as noted in the reporting guide sticky.
If you reload the last autosave, can you reproduce it?
Did you select the custom Empire option? Others have reported a crash with that particular one as well (custom Kingdoms should work).
Please provide detail and context when reporting a crash. What were you researching? Can you reproduce the crash if you reload the last autosave and do it again? Etc.
Please provide your debug, err file and any dump that may have been generated when reporting a crash. See the reporting guide sticky for details.
I'm not sure how you got those improvements strung out that far from your city in that save (that part may be a bug)--the behavior that you can only build off some of them is correct, though. You're supposed to be limited to a certain radius based on the city's level.
Please provide as much context as possible when reporting crashes like this. Were you moving to a particular special tile? Just around in general? What else was going on at the time?
What did the BSOD say the faulting file was?
For reference, tearing occurs when the frame drawing and monitor refresh rate aren't synced. It's generally only visible when the view is in motion and looks like part of the screen shearing off as it's half a frame ahead/behind. This is just the terrain showing through the floor texture of the improvements.
