To clarify, if you have a retail disc you can sell or give that to someone. However until Impulse Marketplace becomes available, updates and re-downloading are limited to the original registrant.

Sorry, we do not currently support the transfer of used games.
ICO uses a separate account system, not the same one as Impulse and the forums. You will need to create an account there if you haven't.
-Invalid gamestate after you capture all the flags on cataract (yes its still exists and I have personally witnessed it about week ago)
Reports about that happening appeared conflicting. When I did the roundup there wasn't really substantive evidence that that couldn't have been due to the host doing things external to the game which we have no control over (to intentionally elicit a desync). However if it can be confirmed in testing (we've tested it and it did not desy
Friday-Monday was a holiday weekend. If you want to open a support case, please contact . Only sales support is available by phone.
i usually use 1786x982
That's an extremely unusual resolution (in fact the only result google has for it is this very thread). If you're using a non-standard display with the default PnP monitor driver, that is probably part of your problem.
If you've been issued a ticket ID for your support email, they'll get back to you within the next couple of days (the office is closed today). Only support can address registration issues.
You'll need to work with support on this one, I really couldn't begin to guess as to what might cause such a strange issue.
Also, try PMing Kryo
I'm the Moderator/CM, not support. I do what I can for simple issues posted in the forums, but anything that's not a simple or known issue needs to go to proper support. Please don't advise people to PM me about technical issues since all I'll be able to tell most of them is to contact support directly.
Make sure you've updated your video drivers too. The selectable resolutions are based on what the driver reports to the game that it is capable of. Also if you stick with windowed, you can resize the window by dragging the edge, or maximize it, etc., just like any normal window.
Doesn't work because annatar's link is for the digital->box upgrade page. Here is the link you're looking for (ignore the bonus pack--it's the 1.05 patch and will break any more recent version).
The XP path is as follows. You seem to have gotten it mixed up with the Vista/7 path. C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\
I really hope by some luck this will be seen by someone that counts and really makes an effort to build a better, more optimized game in the future.
I'm sure we'll be able to make all sorts of improvements with the money we made on your "ripped" copy... err... wait...
If you don't have any mods installed, please send your minidump to and they should be able to figure out the problem.
Helpful tip of the day: spamming the report function over personal disputes and sending harrassing private messages threatening to use bots (an even bigger no-no) to make puppet accounts to spam it even more is a cheap ticket to "elsewhere than here". If you have a complaint about the game, be civil about it. There's no excuse to take it into harrassing other users and spamming upwards of a dozen moderators and employees.
spend a little time actually trying to find support at all.
You can email support at . This address is listed in the game's manual. If you're experiencing crashes, please contact support about it now rather than just trying to ignore it until you get too frustrated to go on.
Please do not use the off-topic forums (which go to our game sites) to post inflammatory political topics. If you want to debate politics, go to another site (JoeUser.com or DailyKos or whatever is your thing).
If he accidentally purchased both on his account rather than doing one as a gift to yours, have him contact with the details and they can sort it out.
Game version? System specs? Game graphic settings? Galaxy size and number of AIs? We can't offer any advice without details.
You may have previously registered it under a diffeent account. If you don't recall having done so, contact and they can help you track it down, or figure out whatever sort of registration issue you may be having.
If you're encountering crashes on an unmodified Diplomacy install, please zip the minidump files and send them to with a description of the issue, so the devs can analyze them.
Looks like your video drivers did not actually get updated--check on intel.com and see if you can get some current ones there.
Please post a dxdiag report. You can do so by: Click Start->Run-> type in dxdiag and click OK. Once it finishes, click the Save All button, give it a name, then open that file up in Notepad, copy+paste everything to pastebin.com or similar, and post the link here (please do not paste the report directly here as very long texts like that can make the page difficult to read).
The game's minimum resolution is 1024x768. There are some UI mods that will compact it to fit in smaller resolutions (you'd still need to set the resolution manually in the config files) though.
There are no standalone updates to get or rehost. Impulse just checks your game against the server and downloads any files that are different.
Foreign langauges are temporarily unavailable until the Euro publisher provides us with updated localization files, since the game cannot generally run with a string file from a different version.
We haven't gotten the updated localizations for the latest versions yet from the Euro publisher (and the game will not usually work with a wrong-version string file), so currently Impulse will only provide the English version.
