I blame the "https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/newpost/forum/" prefix. =)

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the jumpAngle value using a buff? In particular I'm trying to change the PJIs so that they reduce the jump angle of enemy ships while increasing it for friendly and allied ships.

You need to research "Long Range Jumps" which is a non-combat technology so you'll need some (3?) civil research stations. Once it's done just right click on the star you want to jump to. So you know, your ships jump from star to star so they'll have to make their way to the local system's star...which can take a fair bit of time. Some maps also have wormholes connecting systems, but these too require some research before you can use them.
First of all, 90-minutes on a small map actually allows you a good opportunity to see a lot that Sins has to offer, especially if you play it with the faster settings.
Agreed.
Second, if he likes it enough that he's actually jonesing to finish a match after 90-minutes then he obviously likes the game enough to buy it.
Yes, he obviously does like the game and has said so a few times so he probably will or has already bought it. <br/

Though I'm not sure if it would necessarily be "better" than the current one I can see how a unit, faction, research, etc. limited demo could work. Maybe let ppl play as TEC but hold back some of their "cool" units like the Novalith, Kodiak, Sova, and Marza. Some of the earlier betas were similarly limited and after playing them I definitely couldn't wait to try the Advent and Vassari.
It is pretty darn obvious that rolfski wants to be able to play the game without paying for it. And an unlimited small map demo would allow him to do that. But once he mastered it, it wouldn't be much fun anymore.
I think he just doesn't like the demo being limited to 90 minutes per game. As he said in the OP he'd prefer the demo limit the playable race, the number and/or size of available maps, and no multiplayer access.
So let me see if I got this right: The OP basically wants a free game. Dude, do you even understand the point of a demo?
I don't think that's what he's asking for. In the last paragraph of the OP he says:
I wouldn't mind playing on smaller maps or with other limited functionality as long as I am sure that I can actually finish my game!
His point, imo is that by limiting the demo to 90 minutes (per game) ppl won't b
Funny, then why are you complaining? If you didn't desire to play the game longer, why create this pointless topic? Hmmm.....
I think he's complaining out of frustration that he can't play longer.
Someone please LOCK this pointless, meaningless diatribe of a flame-bait post.
If it was entirely pointless Blair probably would have locked it rather than respond to the OP. The flaming does seem to be getting kind of excessive though. [q
There are no animations on the models, just effects. Maybe I am just being nitpicky. I fail at feeding trolls I guess.
Nothing against nitpicking but it's a simple courtesy to explain what it is that you are nitpicking. Also, imo there's no need to assume this guy is trolling...maybe he's just new and is genuinely interested in what other players think. Though I realize it probably wasn't your intention but imo your nitpicking seemed more like you were just insulting the
model animation Play the game before crying about how bad it is please.
Huh? Are you sure you read the OP correctly? Last time I checked each race used their own ship and structure models, effects, and animations...which is what Ecclesian said.

Nice mod You may know already but uniform changes to the economy and other (I think) planet data can be made by editing the "allegiance" values in the Gameplay constants file. These are the percentage values that set the distance from homeplanet penalties.

I've been getting this bug too = seems help a little. Though I still get this bug (when attacking a retreating fleet) it seems that the lockups are less frequent. I've been trying to figure out if (as others have said) the cause has to do w/ targeting and attacking ships as they enter hyperspace but am having some problems. Does anyone know if there is some kind of "EnterHyperSpace" startcondition for abilities?

I got my name from Phalanx, because i though Phalanx was spelled like Phalnax at first. It does get annoying when people say you spelled your name wrong. Umm...didn't you just say that you got your b/c you spelled it wrong?

Oops, should have read your post a lil closer b/c I didn't see you were using so many star systems =0 I usually play w/ 2 or 3 systems and randomly assumed the problem I described applied to galaxies w/ tons of stars. The unpopulated systems might actually be a "feature" and not an generator error. In the beta 2 change log Yarlen talks about tweaks to the map generator that are intended to make the game "more fun". In particular: "+ Galaxy Generator: - Improved planet

I've run into a similar (same?) problem w/ the map generator If I setup a game w/ teams and multiple stars everyone seems to start in the same system. This problem looks to be w/ the number of players on a team and not w/ the total number of teams. Starting w/ one player per team appears to correctly split up the planet and player locations so that each star is equally populated.

Well I guess this isn't technically a cheat but you can mod a saved game to "see all" of the map...sort of. Open one of your saved games (they should be in your ...\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\SavedGame) and have the planet pirates share vision w/ you. You can also do this w/ the other computer controlled players. I think the share vision option can be one sided (and independent of being allied) so that you stay hidden from enemy AIs...assuming they don't already "chea

Yes it would be nice to have an ultra powerful flagship, but it would just make all three races more alike then different. Which is a very bad thing! Diversity makes for better gameplay then a god ship. I don't understand how beefed up flagships would make the races more alike. A Kol flagship would just be a better version of a Kol and a Vasari flagship would just be an improved version of a Varsari capital ship. IMO if the ships are sufficiently
