That card may have some issues with the final game, but you should still be able to crank things up pretty nicely. As in doesn't supported needed features, or as in it doesn't have the power to run it at max? The later most likely. I don't see supported features specs changing, but when we get the two other races in performance is sure to take a dive. <div class=

Updated: October 8th, 2007 I didn't really like the original layout, it wasn't interesting enough, or close enough to the vision I had of an hour glass. So I started over, there's only desert worlds now, one pirate world, and the center is a gasgiant. I've been hesitant to upload the galaxy file for it however, since I can't seem to lockdown the player starting positions since the last Beta 3 updates. They shuffle the players around at random, so you may not always start al
I think they are limited in what they can do with the engine that's probably at least 4 years old or more. Rumor mill suggests it's a 3rd party developer too, as opposed to an in house studio of THQ. There should be a preview in the Games for Windows mag coming out this week.
StreetInsider Yahoo Gamespot THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced Warhammer(R) 40,000(TM): Dawn of War(R) - Soulstorm(TM), the next standalone chapter in internal studi
If anyone hasn't mentioned it, I love the new displacement for planets along the Z axis, makes phasing so much cooler and it also makes ships move in 3D. Keep on working devs, your making good progress It only served to slow down ship travel in grav
ewww, set the min and max to like 3500 1500 should be more then sufficient, 3500 being overkill by a long shot IMO. In any event keep min/max the same.

While on the topic of Speed, there's something that "feels" different between Beta 2 and Beta 3 and that is the ship travel times through Grav wells and phase lanes. Overall ship travel times just "feels" like they have been extended, even though they may not have been altered at all.

Is there any particular reason the three first splash screens aren't running in 1280x1024 if that's the resolution you set the game at? It causes the splash screens to be stretched on the LCD for starters not that it's very noticable, but what really annoys me is the hiccup/sound distortion when it switches to the Main Menu and puts resolution at 1280x1024.
Give http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_163.69.html a try FluXs, they aren't beta and are what I run with with my 7800GTX on Vista x64 Ultimate, granted I have an inferior setup as far as Ram, CPU, Mobo goes.
eppifany epi fanny? Epiphany. Anyway, I have seen the constant Pirate raids that the OP mentions, but I've also seen dry periods. I'd hazard a guess that it's dependent on the amount of bounty on the players. The higher the bounty the more frequent the raids.
How much memory do you have, and what's your pagefile set at? What driver and graphics card? Sounds like an out of memory error. As for patches, Blair (head honcho) mentioned in another thread that there might be a hotfix this week, to address the AI issue at least.
*adds code to the hotfix so that the game will only run slow when the user uses lordkosc's serial* There's really no point in protesting. We are very much aware of the game speed issues and are working to address them. Yo
- Sova carrier uses Embargo while it's in plasma storms. Duh? It should only use Embargo on auto-cast if it's in a grav well under enemy control, IMO. - AI has an near impossible chance of spreading it's empire across planets if it starts next to Ice/Volcanic planets, it a) can't figure out how to manage it's research stations such to reach the required techs or scuttle older stations in favor of say more Civic stations, even if it has a minimal amount of planets. And second it can't fi
Three times has sins hardlocked on me in a 2v2 with the AI's. I've had to hit reset, as I couldn't even terminate sins through CTRL + ALT + DEL. Firingsquad Performance is similar with both OS', when disregarding SLI and Crossfire setups. Well within the margin of error in most cases, and largely insignificant in others.
My reaction: WTF?! Aren't capitols immune to culture? Why would/should they be? It's akin to having the sufficient % of culture in the galaxy in Galactic Civilization 2, where the rest of the alien races adopts your culture because it's the most dominant one, and thus viewed as the "best". It's a strategy just as conquest is. And serves as another factor to defend against.
A check box or something to get it back, I was wondering what happened to it as well and do miss it. I'll gladly admit that I miss clicked occasionally for no reason, but I lived with it.
Driver Version 7.15.11.6222 PoorManDSO, try the http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_163.69.html driver. See if it makes a difference. Remember to uninstall the previous driver first. Seems that sometimes when typing a in-game chat message, the game interprets the typing as pressing hotkeys. Doesn't happen all the time, though. I got the same problem during the second online game I played.
I am not a huge fan myself of artificial aids like no rush time limits, or double resources or quick start ups, as I feel it detracts a great deal from the strategy. On a personal note, "rushing" was what singlehandedly killed all incentive to ever play RTS games online for me, and why I stick to LAN play entirely. I have never been able to see what possible enjoyment could come out from finishing a game after 5 minutes
Somewhat of an older issue, the Akkan doesn't benefit from a higher rank Ion Cannon ability, or the colonize ability. Are they going to change? Either shorter Recast Timers or Reduced Antimatter costs, or entirely different effects?
While it might be great for singleplayer, isn't that a tad too out of place for Multiplayer games? The point being that, there should be some elements that requires the players attention, beyond telling ships where to go. If you're losing you shouldn't have a "Get out of Jail" free card for your ships. Either retreat manually or not at all, in my opinion. Yeah auto retreat is a must imho , saves my butt a lot in COH.
I have another bug: KRYO LOST TO EET! But I beat kosc, so that makes it better Personally I've had some annoying issues with zooming so far (probably related to the varying heights of planets). Even in zoom-to-center-screen mode, th
Clearly the AI wanting to travel without Phase Space is a bug that doesn't want to be quashed. Please send your save game that shows this behavior to Ironclad so they can try and track down why (zip or rar it to support@ironcladgames.
