Was playing online and got one of those string not found errors. Skipped that but then right after that things really went downhill. I got a message that said "Windows - Dispaly Driver Stopped Responding. The nv4_disp driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft." After a min of trying to alt-tab aro

The Vasari's carrier doesn't autocast its repair cloud ability when it is not in combat and has hull damage but it does autocast it while it is in combat and does not have any hull damage. When it was autocasting in combat without hull damage there was also no other friendly ships in the grav well except for its own fighters.

eek, I can't look at the one on the left without being reminded of the trans-gender photoshop job that someone submitted in one of the silly contests on the original boards.

lol, this reminds me of the time that guy cloned the sins website but just changed the name everywhere to some other name (Darkstar something if I remember correctly...) and claimed that Sins was just a rip off of his game. That was laughable too.

I agree that the pirates are a big deal in the early game but not in the late game. However this is just fine as far as I'm concerned. In the beginning, even the smaller pirate raids can be a big deal to defend against - by the end of the game the pirates have usually been neutralized anyways (through culture or by more conventional means).

Yea, obviously it wouldn't work against any human with half a brain (so 100% effective vs aldarian )... though it might catch a planet or 2 off guard in the beginning. If I did more than just sit there I might be able to take advantage of that situation. I just tried it because I feel that culture is a little too overpowered.
How did you get the planets right next to your HW?
I didn't. They staye

Single player game on Kronac's Cross. AI's all on hard, random faction. Started the game by building 3 Imperial labs (the civilian ones), researching the culture tech, and then building 2 Media Hubs. Upgraded logistics and scuttled my light factory to make room for them. Then I sat back and watched my culture take over the galaxy. Just built a few more media hubs when I could and some trade ports and upgraded my planets. I never fired a single shot. Built no ships and the 3 that I start

Defeated faction still had a planet. The situation was that I attacked their homeworld but was chased off in the process. But before running away I managed to bomb the planet to death but not colonize it for myself. Shortly after departing that system I took their last remaining planet (an asteroid, actually) through culture. I got the message that a faction had been defeated and their name showed as greyed out on the diplomacy menu. So I turned my fleet right back around to go colonize
OUCH! Did you get a minidump? Or anything? (Edit: And given the fact that I had you beat... was there anything you felt you had left to counter me with, or was it time for a surrender?)
Yes I did get a minidump. No I didn't have anything left. It was definitely over. Having that volcanic planet gave you a huge advantage. I had fleet support upgraded to the max on all of my planets and my fleet was still way too small. Remember the fleet that hit your volcanic towards the

Yea, the culture in that game was pretty wack. It moved REALLY fast. I had barely finished building the hub and the line was almost instantly 25% of the way to ron's planet. And that was only with the first culture tech. And later, his culture gave me a serious wammy. His 3 culture centers next door managed to knock over my planet in a minute flat despite the 2 culture centers I had there. Edit: And for the record, I didn't quit. Game crashed hard. Had to flip the power swi
Renamed Kharak's Cross to Kronac's Cross. Don't ask.
Yea, probably because of the Homeworld planet name like Busby22 said. In fact my initial reaction upon seeing it was "Huh? Strange to use a Homeworld planet name for that."

Looks nice. I'm kinda surprised to not see the word "RT4X" anywhere though.

Ya know, I've seriously been considering getting one of those. I've been carrying my "lucky stabbing spork" in my bag for years now but it is made of plastic (it's lucky because despite the number of things/people that it has stabbed it hasn't broken yet). Just think of how much more damage you could do with a titanium one! Then again a store-bought one probably just couldn't have the same sentimental value as a found-randomly-on-the-ground-at-school-one-day one.
Slightly off-topic, but allying everybody in a game (ala DEFCON's Diplomacy mode) automatically triggers a win condition and ends the game. You can't have a peaceful 5 minutes and then have someone betray the alliance and make a splinter group, which is really fun.
This gave me an idea: maximum number of winners. Have a maximum number of people left standing at the end of the game. This encourages people to swap around and make sure that no player or alliance get
ever used a remote? "Microwave power transmission (MPT) is the use of microwaves to transmit power through outer space or the atmosphere without the need for wires. It is a sub-type of the more general Wireless energy transfer methods" its the same damn thing, but much bigger and on a different wavelength aw, baby not know what a remote is?
Remotes use infrared. Perhaps the example you were looking for was cordless phones or wireless network connectio
and they always turn by accelerating forward, right into the enemy's guns...
Ron nailed it. This is my single biggest complaint about the ship movement. *sees 4 cobalts making a suicide run towards a cluster of gauss cannons, tells them to STOP long before they have reached the enemy's range, then issues them an order to go back the way they came, watches as they go full throttle through the center of the gauss cluster while making a big arc towards the ordered

As far as I'm concerned the biggest advantage that a satellite has over ground based solar facility is that the one in orbit can be in direct sunlight for a lot longer. One on the ground has to put up with night, clouds, clouds of smoke if you live in California right now, and the fact that the sun is only directly overhead (which is the ideal situation) for a few hours a day. A satellite in orbit can always stay pointed directly at the sun and be in the earth's shadow for a relatively minuscule

Good points on both sides. I have thought about this myself and decided that the current system is probably the better way to go. That said, I find it incredibly annoying having to wait on credits/resources to queue something up. I often find myself sitting there, cursor hovering over the button, waiting for the resources to hit the magic number so that I can queue it up. Perhaps the solution could be to have some sort of Shift click (i think that is already in use but another key combi
