Gonna have to disagree with the pirate strength staying the same. I like to play on the small maps and by the end of the game the pirates had more ships than me... and that's only counting the ones that were attacking me. Who knows how many more were out there beating the stuffing out of the AIs (the pirates killed off 2 out of 3 of the AIs). I had 100 pirate ships attacking ONE of my planets. This was happening while 2 other planets were simultaneously being overrun. One of my main choke points

I received an "our planet is under attack" message for a planet that I no longer owned. Though I do believe that I still has some structures in orbit. But someone else owned the planet (ally poached it after pirates bombed it back to the stone age).\ Ally said "Where do you think you're going? It had better not be X" when they had requested help defending X. Various other threats from allies: "Get off of X or you will pay", "Your destruction is inevitable." Had ally as

The sound the Marza makes when it is shooting off its Raze Planet... that BANG-whistle. Sends a shiver through my soul. Don't you dare change it.

I'm gonna agree mostly with Schem. The cruisers are ok as they are. The carrier could stand to have limited anti-strike craft capabilities (like maybe 1/4th the firepower of a flak frig) but then again if enemy bombers are a problem for you then maybe you should be building more fighter squads instead of so many bombers. The robotics cruiser does have a gun and some more teeth with its destructor bots. But I will admit that the name "cruiser" did throw me a little bit at first. I w

The repair bays "repairing" incomplete structures bug is still present in beta 2. This has been reported already but I'll mention it again anyways. Hoshikos will chase trade ships (or any other ship) through phase space to use their repair ability on them. When you click on a ping notice on a planet that you haven't explored yet the camera moves there and darkens around the edges... it almost seems intentional but it kinda freaked me out when it happened the first time. <br

I started a logistics upgrade and then queued a structure. The LEV went over and started the "building" animation (the spark things) right away (before the upgrade was complete). But it did stay at 0% until the logistics upgrade was completed so just the little animation is broke, not the whole system. I saved the game at that point so I can send it to you if you would like.

Tutorial Problem: First tutorial (basic gameplay I think). It tells you to move your ships to the "end of the Phase Line" or something like that. It is pretty ambiguous. I took that to mean "to the next planet." When I got there I was attacked by pirates. After defeating them I had to jump back to the home planet to get the tutorial to advance. It then told me to go to the next planet (where I had already been) and tells me to defeat all the pirates... Problem is that I already

The 90 degree method is only logical. The whole objection to the old system was because it seemed dumb and counterintuitive for ships to jump through a grav well. By being within 90 degrees of the lane exit you won't have to jump through the grav well to reach the destination.

I've noticed stuff like this too. Particularly when ships are coming out of phase space and bumping each other all over the place. Reminds me of the break in a game of pool.

I also like it better for reasons that many others have already stated. One thing though: This may be the 90 degree thing that Blair mentioned but the ships shouldn't have to move to the phase lane to jump. They should be able to jump from any point on the half-sphere facing the destination gravity well.

Two) Influx can be interpret as either plenty or insane amount which was why I see it as inflation. Have you ever taken an economics class? Ever? Go down to your local community college and take the macroeconomics class. And while you're there, take a few English classes too. You want to know the real reason behind the term limit? while this is all nice and dandy, it would be far MORE nice and dandy if you understood the qualifications of my arguement. I'm talking about the AI. An AI is just an artificial person. I fail to see how the distinction has any bearing on what we are talking about. just having 3-D already allows someone to get around defenses and bomb the living daylights out of a planet without anything but a fleet to worry about.

Schem, I'm going to have to disagree with just about everything you said there... thanks for being on my side and all but what are you talking about? A person utilizing the 3-D space has a serious advantage over the person who is not. By entering a system above or below the centerline you would be able to completely bypass their defenses. You would only have to worry about fighters and any local frigates/cap ships. You could run right in over the north or south pole of the planet, bomb

What sets sins apart from most typical RTS games is that the unit AI is smart enough to lead battles without you. Your job is to manage your faction and put the right units in the right place at the right time. More like getting a large enough mass of units in the right place at the right time.

Press Ctrl+Shift+z That'll make the UI go away. To get rid of icons replacing ships, go to the menu, click 'options', 'user interface', and check 'cinematic view'. You can also get rid of the phasespace lines by unchecking 'show planet connections.'

I don't think this has to be real complicated or intimidating to Joe Gamer. The interface for it could look just like those pool games that everyone has played at one time or another. The part in the upper right where you tell it where to hit the que ball could be where you exit phasespace. Default would be dead center, just like in the pool games. And most people play those games without ever changing that (I kno

Let me restate my original point: If 3D can be done without making it impossible for joe gamer to still be successful, I'm good with it. How do you define successful? How does giving players the option of utilizing 3-D space limit joe gamer's ability to be successful? Take Homeworld for example. You can play the game quite competently without ever holding down the Shift key (shift was for z-axis movement). This is goo

I actually got this particular formation from Walter Hunt's The Dark Wing. The enemy were suicidal, xenocidal, bird creatures and they were trying to do anything they could to destroy ships, especially the flags. I believe that your namesake used something similar to this as well in "The Last Command"
