@ a few people Nonono , the random and number crunching arent the deciding factors . The deciding factor is YOU and yep micro If someone has paper and scissors , and you have rock and scissors , its you and Micro that determines whether or not you win. Can your rock evade paper fast enough to hit the scissors? Can your scissors cover your rock well enough and counter attack the p

@pro Yea , Id also like to see RoF being useful. And thats a good idea. I think logically speaking , if you have a shield. Would you prefer blocking 20 stones 1 kg each thrown at you one after another or would you prefer to block 1 Rock weighing 20kg.
ok..this is my point made clearer. Im not against combined fleets! Just interpreting and appreciating the need for combined fleets differently Specialisation/Combination progression battle dynamics Combined fleet dynamics should encourage single type specialisation (heh) to make the actual "COMBINING" with another unit type a very serious decision as you may only have the resource to specialise two units at that stage in the game. Further into the game you can spec
Supcom and Cnc3 both suck for different reasons. But both are still amazing games. Its good to see Sins up there with them ,as for me , these are my top3 rts for 2007.
firmly disagree with the ideas postured by P5y. Such a game would be far better as an ant wars simulation. The tactical and strategic variables and are in effect negated in such a system. It simply becomes a grinder model and such a system takes away any of the fun at least for me. I would be hard pressed to call such an incarnation of a game strategic, tactical or even a simulation. I respect your opinion ,but this incarnation is actually called Homew
Ok back to the OP Frogboy, I like to put foward an idea... Combining arms is poop. If you have an army where you have a few of every type of ship , forget that you think wow im strategically uber because ive just selected a great combination of ships , you will Look at your army and think WTF , how am I suppose to micro this fleet properly if theres too many different ships requiring different ways to use . You basically just watch and hope. In a way combining arms is good on p
Just an idea..but why not space charting rather then pre-defined spacelanes. You have to chart spacelanes to navigate a safe route through it. The safer a space lane the bigger the ship that can pass through. implications... eXpand vs eXterminate - chart lanes to neutral areas in the hope of expanding?, or chart lanes to the enemy to attack?. Enemy lanes arent the same as yours. eXploration isnt predefined. You choose where to chart to. Maybe you can
one guy voted but didn't give a % number in his post thats why...
Lanes are better then open imo - 51% btw - has anybody discussed the possibility of "charting spacelanes" ,i.e you choose the lanes
In beta 1 , can we have a frame rate counter so we can see how well our PCs perform. Also maybe a benchmarking system would be helpful. Q: for beta1 , will there be successive beta1 patches.

Side Question : Are there weapons or special weapons that negate shields alltogether.
Ok heres a thing . Ships going at FTL , you cant stop halfway and turn back. From a gameplay point of view I understand why , but from lore is it just that... Ships being able to fling themselves at FTL speeds but are unable to navigate or stop safely at FTL speeds so therefore require the massive gravity wells of Suns and Planets to "catch" the ships from FTL.
What extent is the left managament bar relied on to play this game? I ask because are we still going to use it even in a zoomed out strategical view? or will it only be helpful if we are zoomed in on a battle and really just need to have quick access to empire controls
Erm ill give it a shot... The inhibition of Antimatter stores is a sideeffect of phase-jumps?
Hmmmm , I get it now. If 5 ships vs 5 enemy ships all decided to micro-attack one ship, initial beam will be 100% effective, but because of shield mitigation the second ships beam will be 50% effective , the next ships beam 25% ,then fourth ships beam 17.5% , then fifth ships beam at 8.25% If 5 ships unmicroed targeted all 5 ships , each ships beam will be 100% effective so its better to t
He watches too much Stargate. Good man
Thats like saying Supreme Commander is rip-off of Total Annihilation. When clearly its not , and even if it was , its okay because they were both made by the same guy. In a way IC have some history with cataclysm
That guy who reviewed sots realy loves his space games
IF you liked IG , you will probably like this. Same goes for Sots , Homeworlds , EaW , Moo , GCivs
Scout Frigate has Armour 2 , Top!!
