How in the world did you know to change that word?
Could be because he's one of the game developers :P
So if there is 1.04 or 1.10 later, could I just redownload the whole thing as an up-to-date package and backup it?
Yep. The download off SDC is automatically the latest version. :)
You need to have 1.02 or later, the out of the box version doesn't have one :P
Stuff like that should be sent to :P
1) galaxyScenarioDef.galaxyScenarioDef has all the starting homeplanet templates. Note that you will have to define every single thing you need to use there. You'll need the player (since the template references that), units/structures (again, the template references that) and the template itself. 2) This was the first thing I tried to figure out, and failed. As far as I can tell, there's nothing else linking the capitalShipNameType to the strings that we have access to, so I was not ab
They are pre-defined zoom levels. Z is up-close and personal, X is planet view, C is solar system view. So left>right is zooming out :P
To be fair, Gauntlet (another beta tester) came up with the method way back then, when resources weren't randomized either :P Also note it may not work completely on the official maps - depends on whether how/what templates they use, but anything randomized should work.
You can turn them off when you start a game - or simply bid more on your opponent so they bother him instead.
You can't get earlier patches (though I notice with 1.03 they've included a separate updater, so probably from now on you'll be able to just keep the installers for the previous versions). However, ICO won't allow you to log on with an earlier version, gotta have the latest.
I would love a windowed mode for this game, I do multiple things on my computer and hitting the windows button to open a new webpage on my other screen is a pain. WINDOW MODE FTW
Windowed mode has existed since early betas :P I've always used it! Just go into video options and the check box is below the list of resolutions.
True, but, it doesn't take much to realize a completely unrealistic suggestion from a valid/plausible one :P
Thanks much :)
No, each mod has its own GameInfo/String/Window/Texture, etc - nothing is shared.
Nope, that's not possible as too much data changed. In general, patches invalidate previous save games - so you're aware for the future :) It should be mentioned in the patch notes as well.
It doesn't work on construction frigates :P
It's no secret that since the game's release the forums have been filled with more hostility, both towards Stardock/Ironclad and fellow posters, than probably any of us would like. Some of this is to be expected from the nature of internet forums, but it doesn't have to be the case - especially if everyone actually wants to be heard. I've been around these forums for a long time. I've posted a lot, read a lot, and learned a lot - so I figured I could post what I've learned in hopes (t
Wherever you have planets you have ships.
But this is not always true :P
ICO (Ironclad Online) is the built in online matchmaking service. But yes, what you describe will work just fine. Two networked computers can play with the same serial :)
LAN can have 2 game instances per CD key, but online play with ICO needs a unique key per game instance.
I it possible (legally and technically) to install Sins on a second system?
Yep, you can do that with no problems, technical or legal :P Just install SDC on your other PC, and download the game again.
It used to list all the maps in the same window, but the list was quite large :P I don't know, I kinda like having them in separate categories so I don't have to click on each individual map to know the size :)
Maps aren't unlocked at all, at the bottom of the map selection there's a "change maps" button that switches between Small/Medium/Large map sizes and Custom maps :)
When you shop online through the Stardock store, you just get an option to use Paypal :P
I'm not able to test in-game yet, however I looked at the files and there's nothing in it to suggest it's doing something funky. The level 1 Animosity affects a max of 6 targets, level 2 a max of 12, and level 3 has no target limit: From BuffTauntSelf: numInstantActions 1 instantAction buffInstantActionType "ApplyBuffToTargetsInRadius" instantActionTriggerType "OnDelay" delayTime 0.000000 buffType "BuffTaunt" targetFilter numOwnership
The TEC Akkan creates ore/crystal mines with its colonize ability. I'm not sure if that can be expanded to create any structure, I haven't looked at it, but that would be the place for you to start looking. You should be able to create frigates with abilities, though - look at the Vasari carrier's ultimate. I recall someone mentioning that any ship frigate/cruiser can be created with the parameters. However, I don't believe it's possible to tie it into resources such that casting the ab
