3 - bombers are FAR to strong. They're very difficult to destroy without flak bursts (inta kill) You can build Flak Frigates right off the bat with no research. Just assign them to a different group than your fleet (so they don't get your focus attack orders) and set them to follow/protect one of your main cap ships. They eradicate fighters and bombers alike very quickly. If you mean your bombers are too strong, once the AI is smart

EZ-Retreat button. Agreed Somthing similar to Company of Heroes.. select my battlegroup click retreat and they go to the nearest friendly colony. Or if it is your colony the button should send them to the nearest repair yard, that would be very handy. As far as retreat speed, your currently supposed to retreat slowly since you are moving against the gravity field.

Now after an hour or two of playing Im through most of the tree. I disagree with this, however, this is somthing that should have a slider to determine the speed at which research is conducted. People who want multiplayer games to last less than 2 hours should have the ability to get through tech tree more quickly and players that want the long drawn out epic feel can slide it up so that research takes forever. Don't forget also that there is a

Due to balancing for multiplayer I can see why the GalCiv version of this is out of the question. But it would be cool to go the "The War Room" or the "Factory Floor" while not in a game and design ships, though only astheticly, no adding hard points or different weapon combo's or anything that would give a tactical advantage over another player. Maybe you have themes to choose from that are in line with the race your messing with. It would add some extra flavor, though its one extra thing to

My chief wish at the moment is for the screen to scroll when the mouse hits the edge of the screen. It's very annoying to have to zoom-out, find the whatever, click on it to center the screen, then zoom-back in. ...It already does. Not if you have the camera locked with the "m" key. A little annoying to me. Just press M to unlock your camera and you can scroll by mousing to the edge.

have a bit of a problem with the nuke explosions. A nuclear explosion isn't going to go that high. Sure it's a couple of miles high, but when you consider how big the planets are, it should only be a bit of a flash followed by and glowing spherical (viewed from above) cloud, not a mushroom cloud bigger than the atmosphere itself. For frame of reference, watch the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, or the end of Terminator 3, those have some pretty realistic looking plan

Here is my review of the game in its current state. By current state I mean unfinished, the game is still missing many elements which will be provided at a later date. Due to this fact, my review will only be valid for a few days if at all Gameplay: 7 Graphics: 8 Fun Factor: 8 Sound: 5 Sins of a Solar Empire Beta 1 provides a great, fulfilling experience, even at this early

then why even make the backdrop space to begin with? I fear you expect to much. I doubt they want to spend millions of dollars developing a game that you and 6 other guys are going to LOVE. While you care that space is modeled improperly the majority, in my opinion, do not. Unless you plan on taking a loss on your product you market for the masses. Would it be cool to see the universe in all its realistic glory, sure, would it be a fun

Just wanted to talk about the all important exlposions. Right now they are, ok. Which is fine... this is beta. I just wanted to say what I wanted to see and then hear how you all envision them. Personally I would love to see something like Freespace 2 explosions. Example: A ship takes its final blow, atmosphere leaking through the hull as it begings to drift. Finally the ship exlplodes in flames with electricity arcing around the pieces of hull which are now separated and slowly dri

1) How would you expect trade posts to work? Trade with adjacent or adjacent +1 planets, wiith the % of income generated based on the planets population. Also I think it would be cool if the planets got a large bonus or large decrease to income based on planet types. Example, 2 terran planets next to each other produce similar stuff and therefore assign less value to the trade drastically reducing the $ made. However a Lava Planet Mines needed metals,

Because... its not Homeworld, won't be Homeworld and isn't even trying to be Homeworld. I can understand the confusion, you go look at 1 screen shot which invariably shows ships up close and you think, Homeworld 3 huzzah! If you go into this game thinking you will find Homeworld 3 you may find yourself disappointed. Q. My ships should be bigger compared to each other like Homeworld, why aren’t they? A. This games size and scale are much, much, much larger than Homewor

I get why people keep comparing this to Homeworld or Homeworld 2, but its alot different. A battle in HW or HW2 seems to me that it was much much much much smaller in scale. When all you have to worry about is tatics on 1 map Z axis is enjoyable. But when I have 5 planets and 6 ateroids colonized and fighting going on in multiple fronts I think it might be a bit much.

I disagree. Doing this would make it pretty much pointless trying to use static defenses to guard a phase lane exit, among other things. Agreed. The way orbitals work for this makes sense at the moment. As far as it playing like a board game, thats what I expected and I think its awesome. GalCiv 2 plays like an intergalactic game of Risk. This game looked somewhat similar.
