Over the next few weeks, I'll be writing the manual for Sins and submitting the game to the ESRB for a rating. I predict an AO rating for sure. I can't wait for the copius amounts of nudity that will be in the full version.

Well, that was a pointless developer journal if ever I have seen one. Well, that was a pointless post if ever I have seen one.
if anyone i've seen play this game knows how to retreat , its multianna! I swear he is retreating before his ship even takes damage When you see a cap ship turning to retreat order your ships to the position their cap will jump from. The
If you use tokens you can still get into beta anytime though right? Working on getting 2 of my friends to purchase the game right now
It would be enjoyable during replays.
There can't be any ocean liners in the game since they were all converted into Arkan Battlecruisers. Yup, you can see Cathy Lee Gifford singing "If you could see me now" beneath the glass dome of the Akkan, you just have to zoom in reaaallly clos
Well he did do some combat research. I think he researched lasers early on. But 5% is nothing to balk at. 5% means that the enemy is dying faster than you if he hasn't done the same upgrade. The first laster upgrade is 400c 100m 25c or somthing like that. Thats a 5% increase for a little more than the price of one light combat frigate. If you only did that one upgrade its like having one extra light combat frigate for every 20 that you build. Thats the difference between a win and loss in some
haha, I just wouldn't build them if it made me lose moral. In my head, no one builds them, they just show up and lend a small amount of income to the losing parties and tour the planets before they are orbitally bombarded.
This would be kind of nifty. Maybe the cruise liners could be politically neutral. They could improve the income of the planets owned by the current losing players. Like tourists taking pictures of a soon to be extinct race and buying their piece of it so they can show it to their friends when the traviler race is extinct.
For stats purposes, sure, but you also have the continue option there (the question is really if any other players will continue as well). Oh cool, good to know... though if anyone else continues that means they are going to stab me in the back! How dare they!
Great game. Though my question is, was there some kind of agreement before hand that Craig wouldn't directly help Multi? It would make sense since Blair was gimped with an AI. But it just seemed that if Multi and Craig at least partially combined forces it would have been a different game. But dang Blair, you pumped out those light carrier cruisers right quick and they tore Multi's forces apart. I enjoyed all the capital ship maneuvering as well. I was surprised to see the small amoun
If your playing single-player and the game ends like it did you can click the continue button rather than end game, un-ally and take the fight to them. For multiplayer, the game is over though.
BTW, what would be nice would be a ship that temporarily blocks phase travel... for individual ships Ion Bolt does that me thinks...
I think a cap ship ability that could lay down a small field of mines to help cover a retreat would work great (maybe doing only moderate damage but also serving to slow down any ships going through) Somewhat similar to the missile platform the one ship can lay down. Thats a pretty cool idea... I like it!
I should have been a bit more precise. What I meant was more like this: If you're in a fight and see that you're loosing, it's very hard to retreat with your capship against a determined enemy. This is especially true when your not near the edge of a grav well, have to turn around (which is very slow) or have already no shields anymore. And even if you manage to jump out to a friendly system, if the enemy has some bomber squads and you are
woo! another useless thread about stuff already talked about and DENIED just thought I'd let all y'all know. It's true...if the game had no phase lanes (which aren't going away) I think minefields would be needed and they would need to HURT. But knowing where you enemy will come from and being able to load the area with explosives would encourage serious turtli
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE that it records what is typed. Makes for such good forum discussion / drama. Three cheers for accountability!
I didn't think the ION shot was supposed to stop engines... I'll have to check. I know it stops jump drive and thats my favorite part, battered capital opening brief portals of hope to their home territory only to be slammed shut in their face, ever certain of their impending doom. THe way i look at it the Kol is the Battlecruiser while the Mazura (or what ever the HGUE dreadnaught is) is more of a true battleship. </di
I got the feeling the were throwing a mass of ships to wreck up the joint and collect the likely massive bounty on your head and fund the further the building of ships to collect more bounties.
Ok, so I was thinking. I really want to name all my planets and capital ships. I know that its coming the future and I was pondering its sweet goodness. While it adds personality to a fleet could it not also become a nuisance while playing each and every game, to name your planets and ships again and again. Its not that big of a deal in a turn based game, you have more time than you know what to do with. But in Sins it could prove fatal to be looking at a ship or planet thinking of a meaningful
I believe these are all fixed in the upcoming patch (early next week is the current estimate). Huzzah!
I totally agree with what everyone liked above me. Here's a few things I didn't see... 1) Voice acting. I really like it right now. The chatter before a jump and the notifications of battle all sound excellent along with the other speech. 2) Performance. This thing churns out eye candy and does with style, no hickups or long load screens. 3)Copy protection. Almost none to speak of. After reading an article about Stardock I purchased GalCiv2 partly for that very reason
This was just awesome to watch, like a reality TV show, so much drama. Be sure that you view it first from Mike's point of view as he allied with everyone in the game and one by one plants a dagger in their back or poison in their drink. And then remember who mike is so that you don't let your guard down when you find yourself being his "ally". So entertaining.
Great post thetraviler, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
Thanks Yarlen!
