Hi guys, I'm not sure if you were following this thread, but it's worth checking out: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=408&aid=300444 Apologies for not replying to this one before, NoSpamMan.

Hmm... after a host migration? I'll investigate
Hi folks, Sorry to hear that you're having problems with the audio. The fact that a couple of you are using the SB Audigy 2 ZS is pretty suspicious. The usual list of things to try with crackly audio is: 1) Make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card 2) Make sure you don't have something strange running in the background (youtube always causes problems for me). 3) Turn bloom off if you have it on. Try turning down your graphics settings. 4
Try going into your camera.settings file and setting zoomToCursorLocksOnMovingEntities to FALSE, it shouldn't stick on the targets.
Thanks guys, we'll look into it.
Hey folks, I'm happy to report that the excessive frame-rate dive specifically caused by the chat messages (which seems to be the worst for most people) will be fixed in the next patch. Some of the other ones (tactical grid, info card, etc) are expected; optimizations may be done on them later, but they actually require some computation, so they will always cause a speed drop.
Not currently... it should be an option, good idea.
Ok, thanks Crandaeolon... that is actually quite helpful. I think we're on the right track now. Some of those things are unfixable (for instance, if tactical grid slows down your computer, there likely isn't much we can do about it) but knowing that the slowdown on the AI messages is nothing to do with the actual text rendering is helpful.
Hm... are others having this problem? Personally I find the engine sounds too loud, I was considering reducing the volume again. I suspect that the low-frequency response on your laptop speakers may be quite weak... have you tried playing with headphones? (just to see if you can hear them better)
What kind of speakers are you using?
Hey all, thanks for the info. We haven't forgotten about this, just haven't had any luck reproducing it yet. Can somebody confirm for me that it happens when they press ALT with a few planets in the empire tree? (ALT should show the planet names instead of pip groups -> text -> slowdown... in theory)
what condition are you setting on the spawning of those ships? Try using one of the "IfPlanetOwnerIsRace" types. Then you have to pick the race to get the items.
Yes, the game requires a functional soundcard to play at the moment. You don't even have onboard sound?
Are you: Using your first capital ship free? If you don't your fleet may be quite weak. Remembering to upgrade the population on worlds you colonize? If you don't your income will be terrible. The enemy who owns the planet next to yours is likely not the AI, it is just the militia for that planet. You have to get rid of them before you can take it over. I hope that helps a little.
Gak... thanks for noticing that.
I know... its confusing and lame... it will get fixed.
Yah, that is definitely not supposed to happen... do you have a screenshot?
No, that sounds like a bug. I'm confused though, you say they don't gray out, but the title is "Frigate factory grays out"...???
Thanks for clearing that up JOCool... Just wanted to toss this in there for anybody else having a similar problem. 1) Not having a sound card/driver as Rezor mentions will cause badness. 2) Disabling intro movies seems to have helped some people with this kind of problem
Not to put words in anybody's mouth, but I think that the 6 minutes per planet is at fast settings. IE these ones
Did you set the IsWindowed (or something similar, sorry don't have it in front of me atm) to TRUE? Notice that you are setting the WINDOWED width... if you're not running it in windowed mode, this will have no effect. I believe there is another setting for width and height in regular (full-screen) mode, although I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what it's called.
At the moment: Balance Of Power Derelict Gateway Voruk's Labyrinth do not have pirates!
sure, additional info is always helpful
Benji, can you upload that map somewhere or send it to ?
Apparently there are 2 copies at the EB at the Bayshore Shopping Centre in Ottawa, or so my sister says. I expect Toronto must have a few by now.
