Thanks Blair. I thought I had read in the forum that there would be a "hotfix" for this error soon, but from your comment it may not be available until Beta 3 is ready? If Beta3 is going to be a few more weeks and you have this bug fixed and it is not too difficult you may want to consider undating the patch since there may be other players like myself that have had to stop playing altogether until this bug is fixed. I just to not have time to play this game at one setting and without the abi

If the mug could detect bitterness it could add creme from a false bottom to counter. Upon having the perfect cup of coffee you could set the coffee cup to recognize it and use this perfect cup of coffee to measure against future coffee. It would analyze each subsequent cup to determine if it was the perfect temperature and strength and analyze any negative qualities such as bitterness. It would also have a very fine filter that would trap any grounds below the level of the coffee.<br

When I invade a system I go after the empire that is the weakest, often with only a few planets. When the empire's last planet is bombarded, their culture disappears. You just need to move in before the remaining AI does. [/quote]You get a guarantee that the pirates won't be bothering you (in that system) anymore. Hows that?

My saved game causes my computer to freeze. I started playing from a previous save and turned autosave back on. Game successfully autosaved twice then froze; "Minidump Failed". I started the game back up and chose the most recent save; autosave 15000. The game froze again within a minute; "Minidump failed-DBGHelp.dll not found". I had no crashing or freezing prior to the most recent patch. I did remove the uimapping file so that I would be able to scroll but no other changes to the dow

I just replicated the crash. This time though I let the computer sit for awhile and was able to access what I thought was the Minidump notification. It turns out that its a Minidump failed notification instead. The error reads as follows: DBGHELP.DLL not found. Please ensure that DBGHELP.DLL is in your working directory. I'll try reinstalling sins tomorrow morning and see if that fixes the problem since it looks like this might be a corrupted install instead o

Minause une trois Argh, my ears. ménage, not minause. ménage à trois means household of three ie. a sexual relationship between three people. Grrmmll... grammar... grmmlll... No, I think a minause une tris is different. It involves 3 people, one of which has a Penoose.

RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! I have never seen this. At what point in the game did the pirates reach this level? I guess this gives you an incentive to wipe them out before they get this powerful. On the otherhand a cap may be reasonable as I can not imagine how the dead asteroid could support this many ships. I have seen the ai take out the pirate world on medium difficulty so maybe this only occured since it was on easy and this is very late in the game? Since the player di

It would be handy to be able to sort the planets on the left side of the screen instead of them being listed by first conquered. Sometimes I want to increase the size of my fleet and have to look through quite a few planets to find one with an unused fleet logistics available. It would also be good to be able to sort by metal/crytals to be able to quickly find where to add refineries. It would be equally be useful to find which planets have capital ship shipyards or light shipyards. I can th

I thought I had fixed it but it refroze with the same mini dump error. I reloaded the autosave 15000 save game and then manually saved it prior to the freeze. Then loaded the manually saved game and got past the point where it would have froze. Played for a while and then it froze again, probably when the game went to autosave. I thinks thats it until the patch is patched.

I was going to create a post about this tonight myself. I have a great game going and had turned off the auto save since the saves appeared to be comming so quickly. The reality is likely I was not guaging the elapsed time properly. Now this saved game freezes my computer. I have tried it on two computers and it freezes both. ...all those memories will be lost in time, .....like tears in the rain We've fixed this problem and we'll issue a fix as s

My preference would be for fighters to chase bombers until air superiorty was achieved. It may be better for Garda Flak frigates to protect capital ships, especially the Sova Carrier and they are easy to move to where the cap ship is. I would prefer fighters to be actively seeking and engaging the bombers instead of waiting for the bombers to show up over my capital ships. "Nip it in the bud"

Oh, here is the question I forgot. Does increasing your population per planet do anything for you except survive a bombardment longer? That seems like quite a waste but I read that in the forum. I was wondering if more population generated more taxes?

Thanks RL for answering all the questions you could. So you would want to have trade centers at the farthest points of your empire. How about two trade centers at the same planet? I wonder if that would do anything for you? Prior to the game being finalized a "What should be in the game manual" thread should be started. Game manuals are usually high on mythology and very low on facts involving game elements. These folks could be the exception as they really resp

I have played a few games now and have a few unresloved questions: Q1. What are the effects of multiple broadcast centers at the same planet. Pre patch I found an ai planet that had 3 broadcast centers and a lot of culture. If you have 2 does the culture spread twice as fast? 3 broadcast centers does it spread 3X as fast? Q2. What exactly does the Refinery do? Does it provide more credits or does it provide metal and crystals? It says it refines the traders raw materials b

Even if you can destroy the "administrative personel" and infrastructure on an enemy planet, unless the planet itself is actually blown to bits, it would not be a big deal in the game. The enemy ai would just repopulate and the structures would remain. I would think there would be a long cool down period for such a weapon. Given how well the game appears to be balanced post patch the canon could be tried and if found not to add to the game could be dropped or tweaked by the developers

Sitting at the bottom of the ocean (and made of a non-corroding material to prevent the ocean from destroying them) Vs. being literally being blown to pieces. Huge difference. Don't forget, sinking a ship doesn't involve destroying it, like it would in space. Also, there is a (huge) difference between being protected from cannon balls and not getting exploded by lasers or nukes. Hah! That's a good arguement! I still think the pirates w

Imo it works like this: Anything you purchased with the money you recieved from an illegal activity is fair game. That is why for full time criminals the government can take about everything. For example a big drug dealer could lose his house and all his belongings if it can be shown he made alot of money from selling drugs unless he can prove he had a legal source of income. Our govenment actually owns brothels and restaurants it seized from criminals who could not prove they purcha

Thank RL, my post was vague but my pause button works fine, I was commenting this was one of my favorite items in the game. Infact the reference to it in a game review is what brought me to the forum in the first place. archpsi you can change the camera mode so you will still see the ships as ships even zoomed. -go to options->interface->press on show main icons to disable it. That's handy to know, I have not altered any of the options in the

I have had a chance to play the beta for several hours now and believe I can leave some feedback. To echo most of the other posters, this is very impressive for a beta. I am very glad I downloaded the game. Things that are really useful in the game so far are: 1. Pause button. This lets me get a grip on what is going on when I return to a game or after a long combat. 2. Combat graphics are the best, really like how those capital ships explode. I wish the graphics were

[quote Except if he breaks faith with someone else, he might break faith with them. IMHO I think if someone breaks faith with me only after I'm dead I'll be okay with that, especially if it's in the contract I sign and its logical. RL, the other "groups" could not come after the swiss banker as they have to conduct business in secrecy. The middleman, lets call him a swiss banker, is holding the funds and agrees to disburse the funds based on the set schedule. It would be pefectly reasonable imo that the contract would contain a clause that states the contract is null and void if there is no represenatives of the grantor remaining. The swiss banker keeps the credits. Without any representative of the deceased empire, there would be no one to challenge the swiss banker if there was a disagreement as to how funds were disburse
