U must destroy the sevrun overseers first otherwise u cannot touch the capital. Its really easy if u do this. If you have tones of shield ships it will be a stalemate

oh and the only other thing i really want to go with bigger tactical circles is the option to bypass planets so that you do not get stuck crossing these expanses.

I just scored myself a copy of "Klingon Academy". I got the old original paper manual along with the 7 or so CDs. Amazing stuff. Wish they made another one of these. Don't think it will help you though Stress, I think its canon from earlier than your period. I was very very impressed by this old game, especially the way the command system works...... man, they don't make them like they used too.

the only problem i have seen is that the pirate cash menu does not change to reflect the highest enemy to bid on. i.e. when your in a bidding war, starting on the person with the lowest bounty on him is not so great when you actually changed your focus to somebody with more bounty on them. Makes gazumping hard

managed to get the impulse speed circle value down. Can make large circles to have better more tactical battles... Now need to know how to phase to any planet..........I suppose I could make a map with phase lanes to all planets. Geez that would be confusing to look at.

stupid question, where does the patch go after its downloaded? I forgot to press archive, which i assume would have saved me a copy I have tried windows temp and the stardock/impulse temp directories. I have always been able to archive from this before

does this impulse have any dodgy new copy protection schemes? Like securerom? Just looking at the other posts and starting to worry its gonna be messy if i have a computer crash. Is this updatew really 1.5gig? If it is thats awesome!!! No progress bar as far as I can see - dodgy.... oh wait it turned up 5minutes after i pressed start... now that its started downloading I know how big it is and whether it will affect my ISP download limit. the whole reason the pc is cutting edge is that it is not controlled by commercial interests. Consoles ARE.... you cannot just sit up one day and develop for a console, their are rights and all sorts of crap to go through. You can with a PC, so its the PC where all the indy devs and new ideas are...... its that simple.

I would like to do this if possible. The aim would be to make the game much more interesting tactics wise. I do not like having to jump and land right smack bang on somebodies doorstep..... Obviously I would need to create more maps that made this interesting. p.s. It would be even better to get the planets orbiting again

I find it usefull for keeping ships from running all over the place when they first enter orbit. Formations would be good though..... to make them even more usefull. Fleets are good especially if you are just passing through a system and want some effective collective fire.

well I mainly play with friends outside the normal community directly. For a good coop vs the ai this game is a barrel of fun. Really for me the fun has only just began as my friends finally buy the thing. Now that they have it, its not un-common for myself and 2 or 3 others to VS the AI. I'm not as interested in MP online atm, more want something to relax for a few hours with while skyping calling with friends that are local to me. The game has some repeditiveness about it, but the

Just thinking that I often have to stay and micro a fleet in order that it chases an retreating enemy fleet Would be nice if whenever the retreating enemy fleet was sighted you could have ships set to hunt them down. Offcourse if contact is totally lost then your ships wait.

thats a good idea, however I don't like cultural influence anyway. It ruins the enjoyment of the game.... consider how much influence pamphlets and free radio ever had on populations in any war. Populations that were on the enemy side already that is. I do believe that rather than using culture that negotiations could take place with the planet to see if a surrender, vassal or other arrangements can be made. I just had a relaxing game vs the AI and was thinking. Would it not be nice to have the ability to name the fleets we create. I for one would easily recognise my two or three fleets by name. Just like I find it easier to identify with my capital ships by looking at the name. For me this seems to help me remember exactly what has happened and what state a fleet is in. An ally also can easily identify with you saying your sending the 7th fleet in rather than "a fleet" with "x XX
