hm... well hunting through the empire tree is a good idea, that's easier than hunting through the game map. I just checked... there's no select all units of type x on the map. Ya know, the way alt+click selects all units of type in grav well. It'de be nice if maybe ctrl+alt+click select all units of type in the game. Either that of the Search function should be augmented to include all ship types.

Hi, I've started running into this nasty situation where I decide I want to roll out carriers, so I do the necessary research and start pumping 'em out. I go about my business, and then it becomes time to send my uber carrier fleet into battle. And I kick myself in the shin because I realize half of those carrier cruisers are empty, I forgot to cue up a fighter or a bomber wing when it came out. This is a serious problem because a full squad of bombers takes forever to b

HI Guys, I feel like I'm struggling to use strikecraft well. Carriers feel very very expensive to me, I can never get them out in critical mass to do anything useful (like counter LRMs). And that to the fact that once the carriers are built, it still takes FOREVER before my strike craft force reaches full capacity, and add that to the fact that the strikecraft tend to choose strange autotargets (like colony ships, flak frigates and other strikecraft rather than,&

it shoudl be noted that the max income is also affected by the number of trade ships out there. (I'm pretty sure this is how it works) I don't know for certain how many trade ships each trade port has associated with it... let's say 4. If the enemy kills a trade ship, then the trade port it belonged to only has 3 of 4 trade ships out there. So it's only making 75% of it's max income. (determined by the longest route). IF the enemy kills all four of the trade ships associate

Idunno, I kind of like the idea of a project being "complete" at some point. I enjoy feeling like the game I purchased is a finished product rather than a work in progress. I find that the "waiting for next patch" holding pattern can overshoadow the actual playing of the game. It really depends what the updates are. As I see it, thre's are 3 kinds of updates. New features, new UI, new race, campaign, etc. Bug fixes like stability and balance issues. And new contnet: maps

that'de be fun... however, I'm curious what the format would be especially for the duels. Small maps? Large maps? I've played a fair amount of duels with my friends, and we've yet to find a set-up that provides for some truly exciting and engaging gameplay. So I'm mostly curious what the official duel format would be so we can begin practicing.

ya srsly. I agree if you have a stack selected and use an ability it ought to choose the closest/most appropriate unit the stack to execute the order. However, isn't this mitigated somewhat by the fact that most non-capship unit abilities are usually best set to autocast? So there is much need to manually order abilities. If your capships are stacking, then I'm impressed. My guess is you think I'm wrong, or I'mmisunderstanding you. Let me know. :)

it depends on what size map you're on and how many players you're against. The one game i played with 7 computers lasted 7 hours, and had some pretty incredibly sized battles. You're right, you usually don't HAVE to zoom in to see what's going on, but it IS pretty convincing. And in battles of that size, the AI chooses targets "pretty" well. So you don't have to overstress about micromanain. I would suggest playing a larger game, if that's availalbe in the demo. THings can

Hi all, I compiled a player aid that gives quick and easy descriptions of all the unit abilities in Sins. This is different than some of the charts already available because it's designed to be a quick reference. Printing these charts out and having them available on my desk during play really helped my game. They're designed to help with the "Iconus Guaridan? What the heck does that do?" problem. And also, being able to look at ALL of the races

Cool, thanks for the response Blair. I really appreciate it. I'de like to make sure I understand how the system works and make double sure I'm using it properly before I start screaming bug. Do you have to make sure the units you'de like the ally to use to carry out your request are selected? If you select a planet, will he wait until he has enough seige frigates to bombard the planet quickly? Will he belay your orders to shoot scouts and trade ships that pass him by? Is

Hi guys, I had a question about ordering my AI allies around. I know that if you click on any unit of your allies you get the different ping options (attack, stop, defend). You click attack, you click an enemy planet the AI says "Gotit!" But sometimes (most of the time, 90% of the time) when I do this, the AI says "Gotit!" but nothing happens. One time, my ally had a huge fleet next to an undefended enemy asteroid. It was that enemies las

I felt very much the way you did about the game when i first played. However, when they say "unrivaled scale" they really mean it. You have to play the game on a large map 50+ planets, multiple stars, with 6 or 7 other players (computers or not) before you really see what the game is capalbe of. Graphics. Yah the ship models are a little lack luster... but consider in a game like what i've described... there maybe be literally thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of models

Hi guys, I played a bit. And I love the new black market system. (FLame me now!) I was just curious if there were sound cues for the event cards that pop up when the black market crashes. I've seen the icon in the event card display, but I've never heard a sound cue for it. Have I missed it? Does it not play somtimes? Has anybody heard a sound cue for this event? THanks.

got it. Thanks. at the end of the week 2 patches will have gone by, and this issue will still persist? All they have to do is boost the range to match the range of the Desolater and tweak the autocast. IT wouldn't hurt if they boosted the dmg a bit either. Anyway, thanks for the link. Sorry i didn't find it myself.

Hi all, I had a question about how the Deploy Seige Missile Platform operates. It has never ever worked when it's been autocast. It seems to actually fire at the planet about 33% of the time I cast it manually. I generally click the icon then click directly on the planet I want to shoot. The Desolator gets close tot he planet, and deploys the turrent, but most of the time it just sits there not shooting. And when I press alt, I don't see a little

How do you escalate the severity of pirate raids? I recall that it's not tied simply to how much bounty is on the other person, because I put 3.5k in the interest of sending a massive raid in his direction, but it stayed at low. So how is the raid severity determined? And how can I control it, so I can manipulate the pirates to do things that are useful to me?

Hi All, What's the best way to kill buildings quickly? Obviously bombers are designed for the job. What else? Do LRMs do okay? Lets say I wanted to rush his base, take out a research lab and leave... what would I use, and how many do you think? (say this is early before I can get carriers and bombers up) And what about after I have bombers? How many wings of bombers does it take to make a good raiding force? That is, to take out a

This is probably addressed in several places on the boards, but a search for "pirates" returns sooo much junk, it's practically impossible to find what I've looking for. So, I was wondering if some of you could suggest some good tactics for dealing with pirate raids. What's the minimum static defense and best arrangement I need to handle low level raid? Say I don't feel like bidding on the pirates at all for the game. Obviously I'll still have to take that mone

The documentation is pretty sketchy, and there are LOTS of different mechanics. The good news is the computer handles them all for you and everything behaves pretty intuitively. I think the UI is pretty darn good, there are lots of tips and tricks on this forum, for unitlizing the UI more efficiently (it's pretty powerful) and for understanding some of the less-well-understood mechanic. The barrier to entry IS high. But it's worth the payoff. (especially once they pa

yah, colony ships are the only way to capture planets. (some capships have a colonize ability which makes them count as colony ships) Before you can colonize a planet, you need to turn it neutral. There are two ways to turn an enemy planet neutral. You can bomb it to the stone age. (Which you seem to have figured out) OR... you can reduce it's allegiance to zero. Every planet has an allegience rating. You can view information about the allegiance by selecting the planet a
