Long story short: I bought Demigod the other day and was installing it via impulse when I was reminded that I could install SINS over Impulse as well (because it was already there automatically on the Impulse games page). After installing demigod I tried installing SINS too and it refused to validate my key. I played it before, registered before, patched before etc but impulse refuses to let me. My key shows up as legitimate and registered on my account page as well

Well gaming piracy a bit different from software piracy (especially dependent on software, things like ACAD and movie and image editing software are EXPENSIVE and you KNOW they're going to be using it/getting monies worth if they know about it and need it), different from movie/song piracy... I don't support the rest, just PC gaming piracy. I think we were just speaking of JUST game piracy.
I am moderately sure I already posted this in another thread but here goes again. Piracy is a good thing. The # of games I have bought based on WHETHER OR NOT THEY WOULD RUN on my computer thanks to piracy is... well, almost all of them (with the exception of the Dawn of War series of games). I didn't pirate Sins, but I thought about it, instead I just pre-ordered the collectors edition when I saw the min-specs. I play with a group of players online (5-6 people) and ORIGINAL
I bought the collectors edition, minus my problems with getting the mycolors theme to work... No complaints at all having it shipped to me. If you had to pay an additional 30 bucks, why didn't you just go for the directdl option? lol.
Militarily: TEC : Armor/HP Advent: Shields/Antimatter Vasari : Good at everything really but best at offense. Civilian benefits: TEC: Ridiculous economy and build rates Advent: Ridiculous defenses and culture powers (Everything from spying to shield mitigation) Vasari: Best resource generation (metal and crystal), most mobile (phase stabilizers). End-game researchs TEC: Even MORE ridiculous economy, superweapon nukes planets. Adven
Mmm and with the change to the black market the TEC has effectively as much resources as it has money for - and god knows the TEC don't have issues getting money. The long and the short of it is that the TEC has ALWAYS had the worst ships. Its the 'zerg' race. You can BUY more of them than the other races.
The phasic cloaking on scouting is supposed to be used for scouting, not battle. Lol. That 5 seconds of invulnerability makes ships turn away and go back to their positions giving the faster scout time to escape afterwards. My problem with the phasic thing is that buildings don't seem to EVER turn it off once they've turned it on.
FalconNorthwest, Alienware and certain other such 'premium' brands can you run a PC that will cost 10-12k. It will be overpriced for what its worth but that WILL be how much they paid... Now on to Piracy. Piracy is a good thing. Thats my view AND my experience. Period. I can't tell you how many games I've ended up buying (or not buying) because I found out they would/wouldn't run on my computer. The techspecs for games are usually at best misleading and at worse just plain
The thread title could also be entitled : how to cripple your gameplay the fastest. At best your turtling. At best.
... the TEC timed explosives has a REALLY long cooldown though AND its what, tier 5? Your not gonna get that early game. Also unless you REALLY micro them they tend to overkill on structures (I saw like 13 get used on a turret one time cause it was the nearest thing after the refinery).
Does it matter? They're space ponies. Nothing could be better.
@ Lathorien : If you talked less, you would make a fool of yourself less. Check your PMs Onyx.
Culture takes a while to dissapear, especially if you don't have capital ships there. Culture can cause your planets to 'rebel' and revert to neutral. Most likely thing anyway.
I don't think its a bug per say, it seems they all have a cooldown. Its not mentioned but it seems accurate and intended, especially as the 'free' extractors take about as much time to appear as they do if you had used a constructor to build them (with the speed upgrades)
oh, I found another related bug. The advant colonized a nearby astroid, I immidately killed it and colonized it with a vasari colony frigate and I go a 20% cost reduction on all purchases despite being the vasa
Taltamir, don't bump your own threads, if someone is going to post, they'll post.
I don't suppose you tried just clicking 'go to war' once yourself? And frankly I'm not sure thats not some problem with the fact that you had 'kept playing'. You WON through being allied. Lol.
Binary systems. I do believe a lot of those have been promised in upcoming patches. I know "random events" was mentioned as a future probable, and PJI's being improved is one of the most requested things on the boards... and I've heard a lot of talk (and seen 2 mods) adding more planet types in. Doubtful terraforming or increased defense power w
Players tend to focus on just one enemy at a time unless forced otherwise, a computer fights everyone it encounters unless it has a previous agreement, thus the chances of a computer achieving another computer's 'quest' is higher. So the longer the game goes on, the happier the computer(s) are with each other... Especially since humans tend to blow off how important Diplomacy/relations are and focus on teching, building up their planets/empire... Diplomacy is equally important in u
I laugh everytime someone uses this as an argument. If someone invented an 100% full proof way of making pirating impossible then all pirates would stop playing games with that logic. RIGHT. They would find a way to save up money and start buying games. You would see a increase in all game sales.

You really believe that the majority of people who pirate a game go out and buy it if they like it? If 5% of pirates do that I would be shocked.
I would s
Yeah, wow... I thought LRMs were good, but that's off the charts. zzSleeper, how did you arrive at those numbers?? P.S. By statement in another thread stands - LRMs are too good vs. capital ships. Low cost + long range + highest DPS, which is insane.
They're also CRAZY FRAGILE and the TEC doesn't have the option of a 5th type of cruiser for fleet variety like the Advent and Vasari do.
I've found as Advent one of the most insanely effective combinations is huge amounts of Heavy cruisers and Halcyon carriers and defense ships. Halcyon carriers nothing but bombers and their (at level 3) +22% weapon damage cool off, combined with the Destra's already insane DPS = Short work of everything.
This is why god lets us create LAN games, find friends on forums and other things. Besides if you start a big game, you need to be able to get ahold of those people again, cause chances are good you won't finish in one sitting. (and if your offended I have implied Stardock is god well too bad, its close enough as far as I'm concerned, thanks for SINS you guys! It may not be perfect but it made my year!)
I believe they intend to add random events (they already mentioned that for future patch releases) which I assume will entail things like what is suggested here.
TEC. The Vasari early game is a bit unforgiving and the Advent's style is specialized in a lot of areas so its not good until you know the in's and outs of the game. For Multiplayer... really depends what your good with, who your playing, what type of map and the conditions of the game.
