You cant really block encrypted p2p, especially if portnumbers change. I also think that blocking p2p is like cutting off someone's arm if u just ASSUME he can use it to kill someone. But that not the point. One successful use of p2p in gaming industry - WoW patches. Works like a charm.
Except for all the people it doesn't, and if you spend a lot of time in WoW, there are TONS of those. Every patch people a

If you never have trouble paying the full bill on time, you'll never pay any extra money besides what you spent. Its not that well known outside of retail, but
In my view, there's a lot of flawed arguments going around here. The car analogy is obviously flawed. Yes, Mercades will get you parts even if you didn't buy the car from them. The parts aren't free. Service isn't free. You'll be paying for that unless the car is still under warranty, and service under warranty was paid for as part of the original purchase of the car. The problem here is that throwing the EULA in peoples face is the wrong way to g
I don't use it either. Properly configured and with decent user habits, very few viruses can actually spread. Virus scanners kill your system performance and in general cause more problems then they solve (like AVG this week removing critical windows files and trashing systems).
Sucks that its being delayed. :( Glad to see its for a public test though. :) Want it to be the best game it can be!
I dont know where you got that idea, randomness is the best thing a RTS could have,if your units would do the exact same thing and have the exact same outcome, your strategy would be very limited and it will all boil down to who can spam X faster, exemple of that sort of RTS is Tiberium Wars, tho in that game RTS stands for Real Time Spamming. I want 2 of my small frigates to have a chance to outwit 2 cruisers using a littl
I'm not a fan of randomness. One of the reasons why Starcraft was so successful was the lack of randomness. If you use X, you know what it gives you. You're not going to get weird cases where you get crushed by a tiny fleet because the random number generator didn't like you. If you're intent on making a game focused on strategy, randomness is a bad thing.
I'd expect it out around the same time as Entrenchment, now. You own't have to pay to get the patch though, just the new stuff like Starbases. Yeah its taking a long time, but sometimes thats how software development goes. Unexpected stuff comes up.
As was mentioned, the "refinery quota" is the number of refineries that can work for a given extractor. If you put a refinery in range of an extractor (in its own gravity well, or one hop away), the refinery increases the extraction rate. You can add up to the quota and get a bonus for each one, past the quota they don't work anymore. As for how effective refineries are... IMO, they're not worth spamming. You don't build a refinery everywhere. You certainly don't build
So you make one really stupid thread to showcase your idiocy. Then you make a second one. The second one gets removed. Standard moderator behaviour is to limit the same garbage to one thread. More then that is spamming.
Great, thanks for the info.
So how does this work? Do you pay for the full game now? Can you cancel and get a refund if it turns out you don't like it? I'm interested in the game, but not really sure I want to buy something thats a year and a half away if I can't cancel it.
The main concern I have about these is where the single player campaign fits in, and if there is going to be something in the "big" pack at the end that isn't in the mini packs. I'd rather not pay for each mini pack only to find out that by buying the big pack instead I'd have gotten some bonus thing that I now miss out on. I realize its probably too early to know whats going to happen there yet, but its a concern for me.
If you make your own template, will the computer upgrade it like it does the built in ones? Thanks.
I didn't get any extra bonuses, but just hitting next turn enough times changed it to close. Strange, but alright. Thanks for the help. :)
++ Our Treaties Togethre ++ Our Millitary Strength + Trade + Our Diplomatic Skill + Ethical Alignment - Our close borders seems to come and go, but its not visible right now. (edit: Now have ++ Trade, but no change. The bar just won't move past friendly.)
I can't beat this level either. Clean up the map, nothing. Bar won't move past friendly, even when I give him a bunch of stuff and his reply is "we're upgrading our relations with you." Highly frustrating. Is there some kind of trick, or cheat, or something to say "you win, go to the next level"?
I like the Deliverance Engine, both because of the name and because the effect is pretty fun. But in terms of raw power, nothing really stands up against the Novalith Cannon. I don't usually bother researching the Kostura Cannon anymore. For what it does, its not worth the expense and tactical slots to build it.
A related question about good and evil - can you just colonize a bunch of worlds, pick evil for all the events, and then choose good once you research Xeno Ethics?
There's no campaign in the game right now. They're planning on adding one in the expansion.
Shield Mitigation reduces damage taken by the amount listed. At 15%, the ship takes 15% less damage. It goes up as the ship takes more damage, and goes down over time. Focus fire drives the number up in a hurry, but is usually still the best way to kill things.
A new computer seems like the way to go, but it doesn't have to be expensive. An affordible PC with a decent video card can run you well under $1000. Since you're not trying to play Crysis, you don't need one of those silly "gaming" PCs.
I'm running 64 bit Vista and its been working for me, doesn't seem to be a problem there. If you don't have the game at all, the "Ultimate Bundle" is the only way to go.
When World of Warcraft came on four CDs, the first thing I did was copy everything onto a single DVD. It installs quite happily. If you have CDs for all three versions of GC2, you can probably do something similar. In this case you'd have to run three installers still, but only use one disk to do it. (or if you have digital versions, archive them all onto the same DVD)
