Oh I wish about the mines. I wish they'd never added those. There isn't much you can do except overlock and try turning settings down. It's a single threaded game, so once it caps out one CPU core you're pretty much stuck.

If you're playing as Advent you can build a Starbase in the other stars and put Evangelization Nodes on them, letting your culture spread from the Starbase. That's one way to help get a foothold culture wise in another star system. Plus as a bonus if you put a trade node there you can spread your trade route between stars for an income boost. (And if you're playing the AI, build a ton of strikecraft and laugh as the AI has no idea whatsoever how to deal with it.)
Hope I am not the only one who thinks this but I am in love with Advent, and before the beta came out from watching previews etc i thought that i was going to be an Advent Rebel but oh no I'm in love with the Coronata! Suppression Aura is very deadly especially when a few levels are put into it, and oh unity mass is epic! Imagine you are a pilot in a ship and you see the Coronata approaching and the halo glowing, so epic in imho! I do hope
No you're not, there was a thread about it before. The value for money proposition isn't as good as it was for the Entrenchment/Diplomacy combination, particularly since what was needed most wasn't addressed (multithreading). I don't regret buying it, but I wouldn't rate it nearly as highly as I would previous Sins offerings and probably won't buy anything else in the series until they update the engine.
For "fun", I think its hard to beat the Ragnarov. It's like having your very own death ray! For "least fun", I'm going with the Coronata. It's too passive, with subjudicating assault basically amounting to "wade in and hope it procs" along with a passive. Not fun at all IMO (though Suppression Aura is really good).
What about user reviews? With how things have been going in the past 12 months with critic reviews missing massively glaring problems in games, there's been an increasing trend to ignore them and read user reviews. Users *will* play MP, and *will* notice things like desyncs and balance problems.
I'm not sure June 12 has been confirmed as a release date anywhere. :)
First off, there was a typo in my post that's been corrected and vastly changes the meaning....anyway, one DE shot could be more than enough to do a lot of damage...the issue is not the culture produced by the DE, but the allegiance change rate allowed by the gameplay constants file...I believe that the allegiance change rate should be more or less doubled (so allegiances change twice as fast), and this is a change I support indepe
Interesting stuff, though I'm kind of surprised you left the Deliverance Engine alone given all the discussion it's gotten around here. :)
If you own the planet, then cap ships do prioritize siege frigates in my experience. The targetting code just doesn't see them as a threat if you don't own the planet (which is true, they're not a threat). In a closer fight you wouldn't want to waste time attacking them instead of the more dangerous stuff first, so I think the logic is being reasonably intelligent there.
I would be inclined to agree with the OP about "dont blame the game, blame yourself" if the game was actually finished.....If you are trying to convince the Devs to not change anything from what it is now, then I definately dont agree at all. I do think that almost all of the people complaining about balance issues are MPers. The sad truth is people will go to nearly any lengths to Win....They will find and exploit anything they
I disagree...a novalith can be an instant kill on a planet without full health or auxilary government (and you can't colonize it for a long time) but it does very little on a planet that has high health or is protected by SB....if novaliths can't be countered, why should deliverance engines be any different? No one complains that you can mitigate most of the effects of a novalith with a counter... DE's should be
(snip) Do you see what I am getting at here? Certain strategies are considered OP by the community. Instead of attempting some introspection, and seeing if they could possibly alter something in their own strategy or tactics to counter the opposing strategy, they come on the forum, and start balance whining. But how arrogant is it, to make the claim that some strategy or ship is overpowered, even going as far as to offer balance suggestions, when you ca
Quoting Volt_Cruelerz, reply 34@Sagewon: So long as there are construction frigates in the gravity well, you can always just quickly deconstruct them and build new ones without losing the planet. Also, this is of course only possible to do a strike like that if you scout an opponent to know where their culture centers are. Perhaps it would be different in MP, but it seems alright in SP. But isn't it possible to get into a situa
-Deliverance Engine: You are wrong.... deliverance is so much powerfull than novalit and kostura (but kosturo make a phase nod, is also very powerfull). Advent have his power on your culture so, when you jump on a enemy planet the deliverance impact give you instantly the bonus of 25% MORE DAMAGE OUTPUT, right? also with the loyalist extreme culture, the gravity well and the planet is under you culture bring the mitigation bo
Endless Space has a variety of pre-order "bonuses" that I've never seen before that stoop to new "culturizing pre-pay is good" levels as you put it. One of them is, I kid you not, your picture on the wall at the Dev's office. It's for the Emperor Special Edition where you get access, not to beta, but to alpha. Shit is getting ridiculous...
Well, they don't want to wait until release to get your money. Then you
Quoting Seleuceia, reply 4and even SBs can't prevent the inevitable loss of a planet due to culture...it's slow and impractical, but it is guaranteed... Well considering I don't see the AI build auxillary government very often but I do see them build culture centers, I'd rather have some novaliths. Even if they do have axillary government the population and trade penalties are substantial and last quite a while.[/qu
You play on a big enough map or have a game go on a long time, and it WILL CPU bottleneck. Running out of memory is actually less common unless you're using mods (which tend to increase memory use). Of course, the bottleneck isn't always fatal (if it only bottlenecks a bit its just annoying), whereas OOM always is.
PS . do u want to know why we , skileld say " comp stomp is for loosers" ? Its to encorage you to play with us.To make you play with us. We need fresh blood , who can stand the ground against us. AI wont teach u this
You have a funny way of going about it. Normal people see this kind of jerk behavior and come to the conclusion that MP is full of 'that type'. It just discourages people.
If you really have a 4GHz CPU, that's the secret to your not lagging. This is a single threaded game, raw speed on one core trumps all as the amount of stuff goes up. Stuff like runningoffice on another monitor isn't relevant, it can use the cores Sins can't. No, its not. I have mine on 3,8 GHz - granted its not 4,2 - but its westmere i7, not core2 architecture... and as described above, it can be very choppy.
<
I do not get the extreme choppiness some of you explain. Naturally, I want to assume your graphics cards because I have an AMD HD 7870. Yet again, I turned anti-aliasing to its minimum level (not off) turned bloom off and reduced exhaust trails to nothing and ship bump to medium. ODDLY ENOUGH AS WELL! My previous video card, a GeForce GTX 470, caused my game to lagg horribly too. The AI and I duked it out with over 150 ships.
The DE is the biggest WTF around. It's been lame forever and is just outrageously weak in Rebellion, and they seem to be totally fine with it. Do they not care, or do they really think its good? It's just baffling at this point. Balance in general isn't that good in Rebellon. It's not really something SD has shown they take seriously in their other games, as others mentioned.
Man, the Advent loyalists have a lock on worst faction. :(
If you look at the numbers, the Kol is actually ranked #4. The Marza and Sova are tied for highest, then the Akkan, Kol, Corsev, and Dunov. The Corsev is also hampered by it being really sucky back in beta 1, and people probably just haven't played as much TEC since the other races came out. And since a majority of players of the game don't play online MP, it's not surprising the survey would show the same thing.
Done and done. I noticed that "Phase jumping Starbases" isn't in the list of overpowered abilities, but it really should be. Also noticed the total domination of the bottom of the rankings by the Advent Loyalists.
