Titan changes help, but I'm not sure this was the right way to go about it. Increasing the total cost and time is fine, but instead of putting all the cost upfront it would have made more sense to increase the tech level of the research from 1-4 to 3-6 or something. This would spread the cost out over time instead of demanding a HUGE upfront cost, which makes it unreasonable to buy in 1v1 and 2v2. Seriously, if you can afford to wait until you have 10,500 credits, 1,400
I would like to see an increase in the amount of time the Boarding Parties were effective in addition to Teun's suggestions. A bridge of sorts would be nice as well. The tabs on the front look very weird.
Yeah, the timeframe where you can capture a ship is definitely too limited. Lower damage per second, increase duration is an easy fix there. Firing multiple pods sounds pretty good to me as well.
For once I'll agree with Sanchez I say they may just be better axing them completely. Super cheap, spammable units aren't good for the game. Remember scout spam being viable? You want that again? I don't see a role for them that wouldn't be toxic for the game. Do we really need 'strike craft that aren't actually strike craft'? Recycle the models and just make them a new frigate type instead. It could be made an anti-heavy
From what I've seen so far, this thing feels really weak. Its main skill, the boarding party, costs a lot of AM and has a long cooldown. I often found that after jumping around, the neutrals I was fighting would often be dead by the time the cap got enough AM to use the ability again. This is rather problematic considering all its other abilities hinge on the boarding pods to be effective. Stealing one or two ships a battle is hardly game changing compared to most other
A few things I'd like to add/+1 on: -As said, they need immunity to 'spells' (maybe with research would be fair). Uncapped AoE abilities can kill 100s in one shot, making them completely useless. -Also as said, unit completion quote. Really annoying. Increasing cost and letting you build 2-3 at a time would help a lot. Another idea would be to only play the quote when the last one in queue finishes building. -They're too weak.&nb
Makes perfect sense to me. I'd certainly fire nukes at it.
They're definitely too passive right now. However as said I'm sure most of the problem is that AI wasn't the focus of the early beta, so give it time.
They need to be pushed back a little. Instead of tier 1-4 techs, move it to tier 3-6. As for balance, give them time to come up with a fair counter. We don't want a situation for titans like in Diplomacy where caps just get focused by LRF/bomber spam and die in 2 seconds and lose all their coolness. They need to be strong, but not to the point where the only reasonable counter is another titan. Also, using large multiplayer games for balanc
Just played a single player 4 player FFA. Not seeing the 'super fast games', it seemed pretty normal to me. Some feedback since I don't know where else it should go: -Pirate alliance thing is awesome at first, but quickly becomes annoying. With no way to 'shut it off', your popcap quickly get filled with pirates. It's strong if you rush for it and use that as your fleet, but late game it makes it hard to build normal shi
Quoting xaoslaad, reply 69TobiWahn, play the Rebels, gobbling up planets like it was cool, because I researched the piece with the other rebels groups, getting pirate ships coming in so fast I barely need to make my own, I hardly cared that Novalith was firing. I just went and obliterated it with a cruel wrath that only the TEC Rebels could dish out. Thats the "problem" for me. Everything seems to be destined to shorten the
Nice, will be taking a look this weekend. So with this, there's no longer any reason to have the original Sins on your PC anymore right? The bonus for previous owners was the $10 off? I don't intend to play it again with Rebellion playable and the TCP/IP option not working for me anymore with my new ISP. Does plugging the key into Steam mean you're forced to get the final on Steam then? Or can you use this to access the beta and download the final e
This is good, the first meaty bit of information instead of vague hints. Lots of in-depth answers this time around. I'm a little concerned when I heard 'no major changes to caps' though. I really hope efforts are made to make the support and battleship caps viable choices over the carrier/colonizer every time.
Rebellion is a stand alone title and for now (they are expected to give more details soon, as mentioned a few posts above) is only through Stardock directly, not Gamestop or Valve. Also since Sins has its own multiplayer system I doubt having it on Steam is going to really improve that (of course I don't really use it so I might be missing something).
Good to hear it's standalone, and I can just remove Impulse/Gamest
I'm...kind of shocked there will be no new planets types. It's been a common 'wishlist' request and any decent mod has managed this, it doesn't seem like a hard thing to do to add some variety to maps. I'm more shocked there's so little information still from the devs about it. There's will be titans, new factions, balance changes, and.. that's about it so far. The AI can't handle starbases, perio
I have a hate-love-hate relationship with Steam. Back when Half-Life 2 first came out, I was ready to strangle them over how many hoops they made you jump through to play your single-player game. Years later, I gave them a second chance and grudgingly had to admit their service and constant sales were reasonable. Then my friend and I picked up a game that had horrendous loading time and server downtime that the company stated was related to Steam, not them (could be BS, but
Hello, when my friend and I try to play multiplayer (not via ICO), we cannot connect to each other. Regardless of who hosts, the person trying to connect gets 'Disconnected from Server'. We both have port 6112 open, and had no problems connecting to each other before I changed my ISP a few months ago. Is there something else we can try, or should we look into using Hamachi to play Sins?
Make it like Krogoth from Total Annihilation. Super expensive and super long build time, but would stomp legions of lesser units if you pulled it off. However the factory building it was a giant target for nukes/artillery/bomber rush to easily shut a player down. It needs to be huge risk, high reward to fit into the game without overshadowing over options.
Stealth anti-bomber changes? You'd think they would have mentioned that, seeing as bomber spam was one of the big issues with the last few patches. Anyway, glad the shield pact thing got fixed right away.
Quoting boshimi336, reply 48Des Conner does bring up a point I am concerned about though. In long drawn out single player games, regardless of missions and alliances will all of the AI eventually ally up? Wouldn't this then turn them against the player in the end leaving him alone facing off against all of the other AI? I didn't say it wasn't a good point. If he's right, well that sucks though it is something that
Supply Pact: Requires relationship of 18.0. Now reduces fleet supply upkeep costs by 15% and increases fleet supply by 100. Ow, that one got belted by the nerf bat. Good. Looks really nice. All the pacts that did nothing for certain race combinations were scrapped, and with an Advent/Visari combo you can now get a +20% damage increase on LFs. Nice post-release support, I went ahead and pre-ordered Rebellion with thi
Woah, huge patch on Tuesday? I should relly keep more tabs on this site. I haven't played Sins in quite a while, so I'm really looking forward to this massive balance and AI overhaul.
Actually after the 1.1 patch all the versions (except presumably Steam) now just update from the loader. I bought it directly from GoG and 1.2 patch just installed without having to go through GoG. Great game, but still has one major problem leftover from the first; the game suffers from a bad case of negative difficulty scaling. Early game battles are harsh and often require you to exploit AI to survive. Once you get powered up you pretty much just roflstomp everyth
AC is a big pickup for them; a classic that has been MIA from legal channels for years. Now if they can just get permission to sell Bullfrog's classics.
This is why it's often more important to take a job you like for less pay than a job you hate for a bigger check. My aunt had a job she hated at the post office for decades, but refused to look into alternatives. It was easy, it was boring, it paid better than anything else she was likely to ever get. She was miserable, no fun to be around at gatherings, and most family members limited contact with her to once a her. She just droned away month after month. Af
Switched to Skype from Vent a while back for the same reasons as most (quality). I won't miss it if MS tries something stupid though. In a perfect world, maybe MS will use the technology to improve the MSN messenger voice so it isn't a useless POS.
