...One cannot simply take a RTS game and make it TBS... ...The mechanics behind RTS and TBS games are too very different to be put together... ...Most TBS games...
Certainly not in the traditional sense of TBS. Most TBS games might be that way, but not all. I am beginning to thing I am the only chap on the internet with an imagination. Nobody is trying to turn SINS into Carcossone.
That's the whole point of my argument - it is taking the game in a dirrection it was never DESIGNED to go. You design a truck to move large amounts of cargo. You can't then want it to transport the family. Your requirements are contrary to the product's design, hence the product will not (and can not) do what you want, unless there is a major retrofit. And putting seats in the cargo area of a truck would only turn it into an ugly bus... It is a silly
Incidentally, I don't think the variant that Horneraa mentioned (where you cannot do anything between pauses) is a viable path to follow. For one thing, there would be a problem with pirates where you have to react within a split second sometimes (you would get murdered). Secondly, it would be more complicated to change, requiring additional software modifications, which may not be trivial. You have to be able to take action at any time in th
That might be an idea, you can go in the black market and get the schematics for another faction's capital ship, for an extraordinary price of course. This would be designed for late-game, as the costs are designed to spice things up when you just have loads of revenue lying around. I'd always like to steal one's technology and use it against them .
Fo sho. Best part of Command & Conquer was getting an eng
Ask yourself, how would you feel if you had a company and every year somebody broke in and stole 50 000 worth of your stock, you'd do something to protect yourself.
Thats the issue with pirating... nobody knows the real numbers, because its so hard to find out. There is nothing being stolen with piracy either, its being pirated... so it falls under different laws. You can't really compare the two. Some people even argue that piracy helps the industry. I

In my explanation, you don't have a limited amount of time to make decisions, you can take as long as you need to do so. So I wait until you are ready? Yeah, they definitely focus on fighters. I remember being frustrated with them almost every time I used them because they wouldn't do crap for me, except against carriers (this was before I realized they were for a specific purpose).
Of course not, I opted not to go into detail because I assumed the reader could infer the obvious, but I am usually wrong when I assume that. When you download a patch for a piece of software, you don't get a brand new copy of the game but with the changes made, you can a little installer that makes the necessary changes. Obv

And all the money Stardock and Ironclad got from SINS goes down the drain paying for licenses to use all those ships in the game...

In regards to any bugs that invlove ships moving without being asked, moving to the wrong places, not doing the tasks assigned, or any other possible thing a ship can do wrong... it never bothers me. To me, those add to the realism of SINS. Those ships just have unruly, young-gun pilots in them. They're only human, right? Well... at least I like to thnk so. See, its not a bug, its a feature.
Software companies write games just like authors write books. Since games are patched and not books, you must concentrate only on the retail version of the game and not on the patched version of the game (after all, your CD contains only the retail version) when using your analogy. I hobbled together a and AMD Sempron 1800+ with 2GB or RAM and an AMD Radeon 9550 video card. I set the game to 1280x1024. It runs smooth even when I have 150 Illuminator Vessels and 200+ pirates in combat with each other and I zoome in to micro.

The person buying the used game is expecting it to work, but they probably don't give a shit about the condition of the packaging. The person that sells the used game is someone that either didn't like it or doesn't collect, and prefers to recoup part of his costs to purchase other things. Maybe th
The reason has already been told: transfering the game does not bring any profit to the company. There may be this possibility, but it would require changes in the shopping system. You can not transfer the account, because you may have more licences than the game you want to sell. To modify the whole system would cost money. And someone would had to pay for that. The result would be more expensive games for everyone - even if only few p
