Can trade ships use the phase stabilizers to lengthen the trade route past a neutral grav well?
Your best defense against this is scouting, so you know where the enemy is and what kinds of assets they have.
Haven't had the time to play for a little while, but I've always been confused about how best to scout. Would you suggest to put them on auto-explore or manually enter in their routes? Scouts on auto-explore seem to be drawn toward pirate worlds, from which they often don't return, but I tend to forget about scou
Double post, whoops!
I like Advent since: Their battle ball thing regenerating shields at 62.5 per second, with guardians taking in 33% percent of damage (then being restored), and to ships with low hull (darn phase missiles) I can throw in a few subjugators, to keep them living for a bit longer. And I'm currently working on the synergy combos, and that'll be fun! Their starbase with mass disorientation and then meteor death thing is like a really weak version of TEC's big red
An error is that on the Sova infocard, it says that it does 3 laser damage, and then below that it says that it does 30 laser damage. I don't know you consider typos to be bugs, but it is confusing.
So are you saying that the better online players could defeat several unfair AIs teamed together? Or just that unfairs keep up the pace of the game, closer to online play?
Sins Players, I've been primarily an advent player, but I'd like to get a basic idea of the other races and how they're played. I understand that everything in the game is situational, but is there an overall strategy for each race? I've read that Advent and TEC are somewhat similar, but Vasari doesn't follow the same rules. They have to cheat in order to win. Would this be like bringing a starbase into battle, or sending your lvl six marauder to the enemy HW and jumping there, o
something that bothers me is that whenever a scout leaves a grav well that had a starbase in it, and it arrives at the next planet, I hear a message saying that a ship is being attacked. Then I go and check on it, and it's just a scout that had phase destabilization. No attack. Maybe that's not a bug, but I think it would be nice to have that fixed. Thanks Deceiver!
What do people think of the new major balancing update?
Quoting Volt_Cruelerz, reply 1 Well, the problem here is the physics engine. Technically, if going in line with repulse, you should be accelerated. If against it, you should lose all your momentum, and if you were perpendicular to it, you would gain both velocities, thus making you go diagonally...
Less experienced person speaking here, but I don't think that the Kortul would have too much of an issue. Darvin3, you may have seen this in my post, but the AI once put a lvl 5 Kortul against my fully upgraded advent starbase, and the kortul was winning by constantly using it's self-buffing ability (whatever it's called; power surge?). This doesn't take into account detonate antimatter, but I'm assuming that a Radiance wouldn't be able to provide nearly as much firep
I find that for Advent, fleets are a necessity for major battles, unless I'm just mopping up, then I disband temporarily. I dont play TEC or Vasari very much, but when you look at how many of the Advent's synergistic abilities rely on close proximity, not forming a fleet is just madness.
I agree, but it can be frustrating because the ships are rarely attacking and instead are reforming the fleet. But for shield
They're cheap and easy to make in bulk, and very effective at killing enemy scouts, colony frigates, siege frigates, and long range frigates.
So a good counter to LRF or siege frigate spam and is both fighters and scouts? I'd heard about using scouts as combat units, but I'd completely forgotten.
Secondly, not every unit that is scouting is a scout.
Wow, that's one area I definitely need to work on. I usually have at max 5 scouts going, and I often forget to replace them. I tried to micro scouts soon after I got Sins, but I always forgot to command them, and they always died, and I gave up on it. I'm not totally clear on how you control your scouts. First, what is a cluster, and what does GW stand for? Do you send about 4-5 to each border planet and then have each scout branch out to another adjacent world? Than
Thanks for your help! For scouting, do you think that it's necessary to constantly be scouting the whole map, or just parts where a fleet decision relies on what's happening at a few planets? For example, I just played a game on a random medium map, with 30ish planets. Should I be scouting the planets on the far side, or just the few border ones? Also, a related question, for that map with 30ish planets, how many scouts would you have out at any one moment? On a side note, t
I don't see a strong reason to keep it until Sins 2. It would be weird to create a new mode with just a new version, but it would be fine in Diplomacy. I'm not too good at computers, but I can't imagine adding a mode like this would take TOO much work. There are no new ships, graphics, or anything like that. And once the "battle ground (I think arena sounds to much like an inside battle)" started, it would be like any Sins game (a very small one). The only part needed to be developed wou
uh, I think that when you go to the menu and click save (bringing you to where you can rename your file etc.), there will be a small checked box that says autosave. uncheck it, and that should do it. if that little box is only a fragment of my imagination, feel free to ignore this post
awesome story. aren't the killer nonhuman ghost-like things in Philip Pullman's Subtle Knife and Amber Spyglass called Spectors?
Something about trade ports that I don't think has been mentioned yet is how long the line of trade ports is. The longer the line of trade ports, the more income per tradeport, but the more tradeports you have, the income per tradeport doesn't necessarily increase, just total income. There's also sometimes a situation when adding an extra tradeport actually decreases the total income. Imagine if you have a circle of 10 planets. Each planet is only connected with the two adjacent pla
I'm not very experienced with strategy games, sins is my first one. One problem that I always seem to have is what I should do at a certain point into the game. How to start a game makes sense to me; buy scouts and explore, buy cap ship and colonize the heck out of the area, until you run out of space. Then, I'm stuck. To a point, I want to buy emergency facilities and make defenses to my border planets. But should I attack, or entrench more (I play Entrenchment)? Optio
I never have put my superweapons on autocast. I rarely have many, so I try to use them strategically (I play as Advent). Furthermore, it doesn't take too much time to manually aim it. [e digicons][/e]
To take out those Vasari starbases: Try lots and lots of bombers, run your carriers around the well while the bombers do all the work. The other option is to use your ships to "pin" the starbase by surrounding it, while your bombers and starfish pummel it. The first option will yield the best results.
In this case, it was early game, and I only had 4ish drone hosts. So you recommend that if I really want to attack it, s

In this post, I have several strategy questions to ask, but others may feel free to post their questions here, too. I probably won't be able to answer most of them, but hopefully, others will. My questions are: As Advent, what is the best way to take down a Vasari starbase? It outran my ships. As Advent, what is the best multiplayer defense? AIs will fall for a combination of starbase, countless turrets with synergy, hanger defense with crazy awesome upgrade, re
