Yup, I ended up in a situation yesterday in a 2v2 where I was 10 jumps away from the enemy. He had trade ports up before my scouts even reached him, whereas I focused entirely on planets. By the time we met I had nine planets to his five and was getting ready to jam Kodiaks don't his throat. He tried to starbase, but it was too little too late. He trade empire collapsed as I took out his fringe colonies, reducing his longest
ps; I'll definitely be around over the weekend.
Wonderful! I'll try to get onto ICO sometime today, and we can arrange a good Galaxyforge match? ^_^
Good point, I'll edit that in. Any other remarks?
I just did some tests with the Sova, and Heavy SC is a good ability and Rapid Manufacturing is now incredible . I did some tests with my Sova with level 2 Heavy SC and four Bombers against a militia HC... The Bombers dropped about all of the target's shield in one strike (About 600 points). And no research was conducted. Also, the Bombers squads ne
What about making a planetary upgrade that allows planets to send interception weapons to destroy the siege weapons? Like, having a surface-to-space missile that has a chance to intercept and destroy the siege weapons fired by siege frigates? Obviously, this wouldn't work against the Vasari with their siege beams, but that'd just give them a neat advantage. And of course, these interceptor defenses wouldn't always work, but just another means to help defend a planet against the TEC an
Sova: Missile Platforms *** Heavy Strike Craft ** I haven't seen enough of the new missile platforms to merit a decision yet, but they certainly are much better. I've often seen a Sova casually deploy three or four of these with the new patch. As a conservative estimate, I'd put it at three stars. Embargo remains a five star ability, easily one of the game's most vicious. Personally I think your original
I prefer TEC, mainly due to my fondness of the Sova Carrier, but I enjoy playing every faction. ^_^
Oh and is any particular race better to start with than another or is it like a rock paper scissors deal?
TEC is the easiest faction to learn the game, as their ships' abilities are very straightforward and their technology trees are also easy to learn. Currently, there isn't a real 'best' race, but each one requires very different playing styles.
What I really hate is being the economizer. It's an easy position to play, but it's boring and you're royally screwed if your front-line folks aren't experienced. Defender isn't quite as fun as being an aggressor, and it really depends on the position. I've seen great defender positions where you can constantly harass the enemy and be a thorn in their side, and other positions where you get cut off by a starbase and th
You need swarms of Bombers. As Advent, the Rapture's Concentration Aura will make them even stronger, and Bombers don't worry about SB attacks. Also, you could try building your own SBs there, though that might just create a no man's land.
Speaking of which, anyone want to set up a time for a big galaxyforge game?
A bit late, but would Saturday be a good day for a Galaxyforge match? I'd love to play one of these maps for a 2v2, for example. ^_^
I really don't see why not. It just adds immersion and depth to the game. ...only so long as they work on some of the scripting. I'm looking at you, Vulkoras.
"I go to DESTROY!!!" Who doesn't love the Vulkoras? ;) Ship voices relative to status would be nice, but still, it's a minor addition that could take a long time for voice overs. If the devs did add these, it'd be a neat addition. ^_^
Darvin, or anyone, Also, is it really feasible to build one of these things in an enemy gravity well? it seems by the time it's done, your fleet has either already mopped them up, or your fleet got wiped and the enemy fleet can eat your unupgraded starbase for dessert.
Yes, it is. Actually, a common Vasari strategy is to rush the enemy with Starbases, preferably at his homeworld. The key is to have your fleet
Those are pretty good rules for surviving. In team games where I'm in enemy territory, I've found it best just to get my colonizing cap to colonize any asteroids, then flee into allied grounds. Also, upgrading the homeworlds HP is a must. These two will help enormously when keeping the enemy preoccupied, or even make him build siege frigates or leave his capitals to bomb the planet. EDIT: Amish means resource extractors, not minefields. ^_^
This gives me a hard on. An actual feasible capital ship for Vasari? I was getting down reading the cap ship thread and the Vasari bashing that's been going on there...
Yeah, the latest patch really improved capital ships, especially for Vasari. It used to be that Vasari players would just get multiple Eggs, but now we have an amazing Kortul, useful Skirantra, for examples. It's wonderful. ^_^
I've been noticing that. Short of huge clouds of bombers or swarms of LRF, it seems just about nothing can kill a Kortul so long as it has antimatter to use power surge. The Kortul is definitely going to rise in popularity once people realize just how hard to kill it is.
Indeed, the Kortul is pretty much a tank. I'm looking at it as the Vasari's answer for the Kol. I doubt it die at all with a Skirantra
Also, Replicate Forces can clone Siege Platforms, which of course really helps with sieging planets. ^_^ Looking at the Carriers again, they have become really good. In fact, I could see that building two Capital Carriers is actually a very good idea! Having two Halcyons will essentially allow the Advent to dominate SC battles; both Telekinetic Push and many more SC is an enormous benefit. Skirantras with Scramble Bombers is actually fairly viable when upgraded, and two or more Sovas make the

They have a complex membrane that filters and extracts nutrients from fine particles, vapours, gases. "
Which would also explain why their favoured planet is Volcanic! ^_^
I don't really think that we should be looking for human language comparisons for the Vasari.
Although, separation from the Unity would cause none of the above. It would just revert the person back to how they would be without it. They would regain their individuality, unless of course someone else's mind had been imprinted on them. Take a look at the Advent game lost screen. Their eyes still glow and they are still alive, so thus they must live and keep their heads, just lose contact with the Unity.<br /
What about the Vasari language? From the sound files, it seems pretty obvious that the Vasari have a pretty good grasp at learning new languages. Of course, their physical structure of their 'mouth', which seems more beak-like, could lead to an general idea of a Vasari language. In addition, most of their units have an accent of sorts, especially their growling noises when pronouncing words with an 'ow' sound. Any idea how the Vasari language (Or at least the Vasari Exodus language) woul
Great video. I think the picture of the Argonev with a huge TEC fleet looked fantastic. Hopefully it'll be a wallpaper. ^_^ Though... Why is there a change in narrator? The trailer and opening sequences had a great narrator, but this one wasn't as great. :( Regardless, this video is getting me even more excited for Diplomacy. ^_^
so how would Advent children be raised? aside from gaining access to the Unity collective mind pool, how would they be educated? raised? how and when would they start experimenting with psionic implants and the such? what would happen to silent ones?
