Like Frogboy said... you either take the time to create an account or take the time to kill the popups. At least there is a choice.

I would definitley like to see development on this continue. It would be great to have it talk with DesktopX in some manner. Would also be great to be able to assign sounds to icons. I have one problem on my home machine were it does not get along well with Outlook on my Win2000 machine.
Finally, resizeable, scrolling text boxes! Yeehaw!
I just did a tutorial on Zoomers that is going to be published anyday now. It should solve any problems that you're having.
There will be some tutes coming soon... keep your eyes peeled. (not litterally! OUCH!)
Ahhh David... your mention of ProComm reminded me how fond I was of Qmodem. I started my BBS with the free RBBS software and eventually bought a copy of PCBoard and was running 3 nodes.
Oh geez... threads that won't die. I refer to this kind of thing as a "hippythreadisinosis" Now Jafo has one of his own too. I don't know whether to feel sorry for you people or curse you. =P
uhhh... cuz it's lonely out there?
I got started with a Radio Shack Color Computer. (yea, OLD) Eventually ran a BBS on it under an operating system called "OS/9". Eventually moved to the PC and started "The Silicon Sysop" which I ran under Desqview for many years. After running a BBS for almost 10 years, for a while I had no interest whatsoever in any kind of electronic messages. Two years ago I came upon the "bad brown place" where I was drawn in by some of the locals and, well, here I is!
Can the BIOS be remotely upgraded in case of compatibility problems?
The same thing happened to OS/2 which was a WAY better OS than Windows. Too much of this industry is reliant on marketing tactics and the old "it's who ya know" problem.
I play games and while I may not play as many as others, there is only one game I've run across that won't run on Win2k, "BioForge." However, let it be known that this game was a problem even from plain DOS so I don't blame 2k one bit. WarZone2100, Doom, Quake and plenty of others all do just fine. When I'm ready for a fresh install, I might (very small chance) consider XP. Perhaps by then I'll have lost the distaste I have from all the XP skin stuff that's been turning up.
Using a cable modem and while the site moves quickly, loading the message board can sometimes take a long, LONG *yawn, is it naptime already? Lemme make a pot of coffee to wake up now. Ooops, gotta load the washing machine. Hey, I forgot that plant needs repotting. Lemme wash my hands now and see if the message board is up.* Of course this is a teensy exageration but there are times it seems like this. Most other parts of the site are doing nicely though.
Oh geez Phil, I just caught on to what you were saying on that last one!!!
Nope... nothing from you PJ. *sniff* I miss ya too. (Jafo's just jealous cuz yoy ain't paying him no mind) Lemme see if I can fire up ICQ
Here I is!! Nope, haven't gotten a single email from you PJ! I thought maybe you didn't wuv me no more. You found a fix?? I already uploaded it darn it. Oh well, I can always re-up it. Ummm.. I used to do IRC and I think I still have ICQ on my home system. Lemme try sending you my work email address private like.
I've been a happy registered user of ODNT for a long time now and here's my outlook on it... Let's face it, the world is full of free-loaders. As long as someone (including myself at times) can freeload, they have no initiative to lay out cash, fill out forms or even post a damn comment! (another story in itself) However, as has been discussed before and I've clarified before, you have a choice. Make it harder, and you will lose users, no two ways about it. Now, unless you're r
I just finished doing a little tutorial for this for someone else. I am awaiting a reply so that I can be a little more sure it's ready for public consumption.
Oh gosh... what a dissapointment. All this talk of fonts had me going. Then, I noticed not one mention of China.
Boxxi, did you ever get my email??? I sent it twice.
I was going to take it but I think I could finish a SAT exam in half the time. That thing is HUGE!
Hmmmm AJ, from your comments one would think that you were a professional art and website critic. Just because someone chooses to take the hard route and write code in notepad, doesn't make them any more of a man (or woman) than someone who uses DW or FP. Did you write your own word processor or do you use someone elses? How about when you shave in the morning... use a manufactured razor or do you take the he-man path and do it with a dull Ginsu knife? When you create your skins/themes/
One of my most popular downloads has a single rating and it is at 5... Yet, another one which has a rating of 9, has 1/3 the downloads. As has been pointed out... I believe the ratings TRY to more reflect originality than popularity. Sometimes the two will coincide with each other and other times they won't. I understand the complaints but do try and not pay too much attention to the ratings. Downloads and comments mean more to me.
I too have the WOW book and attented one of the authors seminars. I've found it well worth it. And, as always, I see ess needs a little provoking to share his opinion with us.
Thanks guys! It's on the way!
