I dont see how anyone can forgo building ships before getting BHs.If I try this every civ tries to extort me and then declares war on me when I refuse.I mean even if I were to shoot straight for BH tech it still takes a long time to get there and then even longer to build a few.The enemy in the meantime builds a boatload of offensive ships and comes at me hard. The only way I can avoid war is to stay ahead militarily the entire game which means building both defenders and then battleaxes. Why do you have to know the result of an action before you do it? Example:Worms -Kill them, leave them be,or limit their habitat?Thats all you should know. Then when you make your choice you find out the result of your actions. For instance you choose evil and kill them and a box pops up that says:Ooops-It appears the worms were tied closely to the soil richness on this planet:result -20% PQ. You choose neutral and relocate the worms and a box pops up that says:The worms love

I ALWAYS end up evil.I start the game thinking "Im gonna be good this time" but then some colononization random event comes along like the polar Ice cap one and I just cant do it.Whats the point of having a colony with -30% production? Then since I just went to the dark side I figure I might as well go all the way and I end up being demonic-drinking plague boils and watching animal fights. It just seems too hard to get to good--It only takes 3 evil choices to go evil yet it takes 5 good choic

Plus I think its been stated that a transport represents an armada of ground attack craft and support units. Also you cant invade without killing all the enemy ships in orbit so you can imagine that your ships will help out with things like orbital bombardment, recon, sensor jamming etc.

"One problem with moving almost all of your population: While in transit, they aren't taxed, so you lose money." Agreed --thats why I said only if you can get them there in one turn ;)

Ive found 2 strats to help with early expansion that I use every game(almost). Dont know if anyone has ever posred these but Im gonna anyway. First is move your capital--by this I dont mean moving the little crown icon(which you cant afaik) but moving your 1 billion starting pop to a better planet. If I start on a 16 or 17 planet I move my entire pop(except about 100 mil.)to a nearby 19 or 20 planet if their is one.The new planet must be within 1 turns travel tho or forget it.O

I certainly do billy--Ive never had a challenging game yet.Im either hopelessly beaten by a bad starting location(80% of the time) or I get such a great start that its no fun to keep playing. And watch out with this +25 luck attribute. Sounds like its overpowering so it will get nerfed real soon.

The x should just never go away. When Im rushing (if 1 space a turn can be considered rushing)to a resource Ill turn away if the little x disappears knowing that another race beat me to it.I shouldnt be able to know that till im in sensor range. The location dissappearing just makes no sence. "Captain Constructo,You are to plot course to that military resource that Kirk reported 6 months ago." "Yes sir,uh what are the coordinates?" "Contact Kirk aboard the Her

My guess is that in playtesting the human player greatly outscouted and out colonized the ai and the devs couldnt get it to scout better or the ai would build a ton of colony ships without a clue as to where to send them. I mean didnt you ever see an ai survey ship appear in your sector then not move for a long time?I think it explores a wormhole that sends it out of its range so it then just sits there till it researches a range tech. Not sure on the last one but one thing I am sur

I discovered something once--If you have a colony ship on auto-pilot to a yellow star that you already have colonized but you plan to colonize a second planet in that system, when the ship gets there it gives you no prompt. If you arent paying attention and dont see the ship arrive and hit end turn without colonizing a planet then it goes into the never ending clock symbol.Yes you can still check out other screens and even move some ships but the turn wont end. Ever since then I set auto-pilo

Yeah--well maybe this is part of the bug cause I saw torian constructors streaming toward a resource that I know they didnt see cause it was in my area and I never saw any torian ship near it before the -and this is no lie-5+ Torian constructors headed right for it.In fact I saw lots of these ships heading in all directions EARLY in the game before I even built many of my own-And I build many in the early game. I get so sick of this --Im just posting my observations and some fanboy come

Man am I glad I saw this post--I thought I was losing my mind.Im in a game right now where the Torians are trapped in a corner wit very few planets and im the civ that stopped their expansion. The few resources that I have located are already Torian and VERY well developed. + I had a stream of constructors travel through my terratory towards other resources. This is very early in the game and I cant figure how they can pump out so many already.I did get one resource by sending out a const

Oh that Ironman thing I said got me thinking. there isnt an Ironman setting that Im aware of so how does metavearse know if someone didnt endlessly save his\her game and back up to get better random events or to better prepare for a defence or just explore then go back to first save?Just curious since it seems so important to have acurate non exploiting scores there.

83 Replies 2,250 Views

Why does it have to be taken away from everyone just because some guys want to post big scores on metaverse? Couldnt each trait have a color-say green and red- red meaning if you use this trait you will not be eligable to post your score on metavearse? Then the guys who want glory can play ironman all they want while guys like Toadboy can have a nice relaxing game of pile up the 30+ planets. I must admit I used the +15PQ trait too(It IS overpowered)but I dont mind it b

One things for sure--They ALWAYS get a 20+ planet to start and usually a nice second planet or 2 in their home system. And they will very quickly colonize all planets in their home sector. They are very juicy targets worthy of a short, sharp campain.Screw being nice with minors.I extort the hell outa them-then when Im ready I conquer them.

5 Replies 262 Views

I saw something even more political (IMO) once in this game.It was also very funny (again IMO). A new minor civ popped up in a star that never existed before(hmmmm a cloaked star that suddenly became uncloaked??)Anyway I forget the name of the civ but when I read the short description of them it said something like this--- "The -insert civ name here-are the decendants of the long lost democratic party which left Earth in the early 21st century. We wish them well" LOL<br

ooh--good tip Spinor--I dled 1.02 tonight and it was 85 mb(big for the small amount of fixes and tweaks in it)and it took 20 min.Ill have to try what you said--that is after I finish my current game.

3 Replies 295 Views

Bah--I saw the 90 corvette thing(which they promptly squandered against their enemies dreadnaughts in an endless stream) but never BCs.In the early game this is decisive. If I were living next to the civ that got 86 BCs while Im just cranking out my first few--Id reload.I have the game set for save every 2 turns so (like the time I lost ALL my best stars to the fundys)I can turn back time on the game-breakers. BTW I like that if a system becomes a new Civ the new Civ gets all your techs
