I totally misunderstood
I'm second in that queue! And thanks PB for the clarification - Fuels Chief posted how to do this in the Starfleet empire thread a couple of days ago, if anyone needs the step-by-step process outlined. Basically, you just leave your old character and go for a new one - as PB says though, the implication is that you dont go back to the old one or have two submitting games at once. Thanks to CariElf for the advice/clarification.

PB: it definately was NOT my intention to make any suggestion or inference regarding cheating, and I do not think anyone in the Metaverse is using multiple aliases for this purpose. I had a specific issue - a whole stack of older games and an old identity with an inactive empire that I wished to leave behind, to start fresh elsewhere - and I thought the polite thing was to ask the community of players what they thought about the whole deal. I've seen your aliases quoted in posts on this
But there is no way to unregistar a player is there.
No. This is a bummer when it comes to attracting older players back to the game, and will become more of an issue with GC2. I just renewed my TotalGaming.net sub, thinking I would start a new player and be ready to participate in the beta testing. Of course, I can still do that as Wild Wombat, but if the GC2 Metaverse is simply an extension of the existing one with the same player identity, then I am going to be draggin
Keep on squeeking, maybe stardock will throw some more grease your way.
Chill out, dude. My original reason for asking about this issue is that I'm the emperor of an old and inactive empire in which NO ONE is playing at the moment - I wanted to know the community's attitude to creating another alias to go play with an ACTIVE empire, whilst leaving my old player with my old empire for historical/sentimental reasons. As far as I can see, if you create another alias
if a player has one persona and submits 4 games a month to the metaverse of 60,000 then each game submitted is only worth 30,000 to their scores and their empires..while if they have 4 players then each score is worth 60,000 to their empire
This is an excellent point; I'd appreciate Peace Phoenix's opinion on this - if you have multiple active aliases and all the actives are in the SAME empire, then surely this is a distinct advantage? If Weyrleader and PassingBye were re

We did have a massive vault, over 50 stories, taken care of by idleprocess (one of the finest MWC cowboys!) called War of the Worlds, but I see the link to that site is sadly defunct now. Good on you for starting up another - it always helps to add interest. :CONGRAT:

The Aussies picked up a Gold in team pursuit cycling. Haven't been watching the gymnasts, so can't comment in that. 8. Tough for Thompson, but the Aussie girls have swum out of their skins this time around - it's been the best meet ever "away from home" for the Aussie swim team generally. The boys, Thorpe and Hackett aside, actually haven't done so well. Phelps seems a nice guy - he'll be formidable in Bejing. Oh, and I agree with getting rid of the 50m - silly event. Sometimes you get the impression they just put these things in so give a

Phelps is a real talent, no doubt. Seems to have a different attitude to er...Mr. Hall - did you see that 50m free deck outfit?!?! Still, I like a guy with a bit of personality! Sadly, I cant remember a really good medley swimmer in Australia's history. Aussie women cyclists (hopefully clean ones) are doing really well; although Shane Kelly blew it AGAIN in the men's 1000m time trial (:( OK - so how come none's actually ATTENDING the Games personally? Commentary down here sug

Congrats on the relays - we lacked the depth we've had at previous attempts. Thorpe did well to even give us a chance there - and he also did pretty well to take a bronze in the 100m free individual, given it's not his specialist event. His coach says he wants to concentrate more on it next time around (other competitors shudder ;) ). The Aussie charge is likely to fall away now, because our track and field team is really pretty woeful! Interesting point above about age related
They're a perfect argument for NOT allowing Pros to represent us! No hunger there; every one of them will go back to Multi-Million dollar jobs so why try.
I think it's a tough one to decide, too. I'm also not sure, for example, whether we should have tennis in the Olympics either. Tennis pros already have a very lucrative and well defined championship system to decide the No. 1 - why bring it into the Olympics? With some of these sports (and DONT get me started on syncron

Great topic Capt. Jack! A few random thoughts: 1. Not sure what a Giant Doobie is, but it looks more like one of those 'dunking birds' where you fill the belly up with liquid and watch it bend and tip over repeatedly.... 2. Why do Americans get stuck into their own!? I think Phelps is terrific, although some argue that he isn't the fastest freestyler and hence is not getting in to the relays on merit - only to fulfill his personal dream of 7 gold. It seems most US male swim phe

No one's going to shoot you, Dark! I think we've all thought about this one at some time or another. I reckon the majority of older players would say no, and forcing a reset might lose you more than you'd gain. If you had been around for months and built up a million points, to then be zero'ed - would you start again? Most wouldn't, and would probably leave the game. Yes, it makes it hard on the newbie who sees those scores and can't imagine themselves getting up there, but as J.T. points out so

Damoose is right: one of the elements that adds to the difficulty level is that the AIs get a PQ bonus on the planets they settle (including NEW ones they settle, not just the one they start with). Welcome ObsidiOn!

Welcome to GalCiv! For what it's worth, here is the old formula on metaverse scoring: Difficulty Level: The base score is based on the intelligence of the various computer players. This makes up the vast majority of the score. There is a slight bonus for playing as the opposite alignment as most of the players for most of the game. It looks at each turn and then looks at how much you are different each turn. But it's a relatively small adustment. Galaxy Size: T
oh and which do you think is the easiest beginner strat? diplo/trade or warmongerer
That's a tough question: I guess the influence/diplo game can be played consistently, as the AIs don't react well to it all the way through to masochistic level. Thus, once mastered, it's a series of strategies that you can refine all the way to the hardest difficulty level. Im my experience, pure warmongering gets harder as you go up the levels, because the AIs get very significant advan
