I find it bizarre that the pirates keep on popping up out of nothingness. This really ticks me off. I have seen some suggestions on the forums about having pirate bases and the like. The pirates that spawn randomly out of thin space are due to another player having the Insurgency tech. 'Normal' pirates currently come from the sun, and are planned to have a base later where they'll originate from.

This (auto-retreat) will probably be via AI Stances when they are added at a later point.
The majority of the posts on the forum are about UI and gameplay ideas/requests/discussions/complaints rather than genuine bugs, so it wouldn't make a huge difference IMO. There's already the minidump system in place for crashes as well. Besides, how would I earn my keep without so many threads to round up
IIRC it was already confirmed that Arctic planets aren't getting spread as evenly/frequently as they should. Once that's remedied the crystal situation should improve some.
Did your ships actually plot a course through multiple unexplored locations, or just through one which you'd found two routes going to already (but not actually visited)?
To activate the game on a computer that is not connected, follow these steps: 1) Start the game; you will get a prompt for your serial and email. Provide them and continue. 2) It will fail to activate and ask if you'd like to activate by email. Click Yes. 3) Copy the subject line and big block of letters into a text file, or into your email program, and save it off to portable media (CDR, USB drive, floppy, etc). 4) Take it to a web-connected PC and send an email to activate@star
That is, I waited a couple hours tried again, and it worked. Yeah, seems the activation server was acting up this morning, sorry about that (didn't hear about it myself until after posting my reply here, or I'd have just said wait and try it later!).
Activation server was acting up this morning/early afternoon, it should be working now so give it another try. the serial numbers that I found from my forum account is different from the one I got in the sales confirmation email and the email I get when I "look up serial number" That's normal, any of them should work.
Is there a way to ungroup a group? Set the group without anything selected.
FYI, for those of you wanting simple symbols for the icons, it should be easy enough to edit the image that contains them all (empire.tga, I believe) and see how it'll look for yourself
Tab/Sift+Tab cycle the focused ship in the group (though some have reported Shift+Tab doesn't currently work).
The 'recent posts' lists are cached and update every few minutes, so things will not always appear on them instantly. This is because the same forum software and database server/s are used across all Stardock forums. Not using cached data would be a fire hazard to the datacenter, with the amount of traffic from all the sites combined...
That sounds weird, you might wanna contact [email protected] This should really go to [email protected], not sales. But yeah, they should be able to fix you up after the weekend.
is this some artifact of a previously removed concept? That or it's supposed to be 'orbit ed planets'--ones with things in orbit, I'd think. Actual moving planets were indeed scrapped permanently long ago AFAIK.
well, I see it in my account now. But when I try to download it, nothing happens. (I right click on Sins and select download from the drop down menu) Make sure you have 'show prerelease versions' checked at the bottom of SDC. You'll then get an Install button when you select Sins in the list.
The game does actually have autosaving, but it's currently disabled (I think for that very reason).
Artifacts.
So anyways, then I started a new campaign and made sure to turn the marauding pirates option off so I wouldn't have to deal with that (and thank jebus there is that option unlike the Total War series), but I just loaded that campaign up again and all of a sudden one of my planets got attacked by a large contingent of pirates! Then another planet! More likely, if the game is far enough along, one of the AIs researched Insurgency.
I think you need to make a capital planet in your new system, you can have one for each really? Yep.
The galaxy generator is set to place players in a way that encourages conflict, so it'll fill up each system before placing anyone in the next.
Yep, Blair has confirmed it already. Should be sorted soon I'd expect.
Right now it seems that marauders originate from the sun, while insurgents appear out of thin air.
Insurgents do seem a bit too dangerous for the AI. Playing with marauders off, I got insurgency first and they apparently finished off the last AI held locations in my home system for me (two asteroids, I'd already taken all his planets). Someone else also researched it around the same time and I started getting periodic raids myself, but after losing one asteroid I upped the tactical levels and set up hangars everywhere and that seems to handle them well enough. When I made it to the oth
Seems that the galaxy generator is still set to encourage early conflict (so not a bug so much as the values didn't get adjusted from beta 1).
Does the HPDP only affect income from the taxes? It affects fleet supply as well. Though I've only seen it get that harsh in a new system before establishing a capital there (you can have one in each system), YMMV if you're playing with a lot of planets in one system.
