a) maybe the option of adding a description as well as the name to the design You can already do this; When you finish your design and save it, a popup appears for you to set a name and description for the new ship.

In absence of a key, you can just look in the data folder and see the names of the bonus icons And AFAIK, the agriculture icon is supposed to be a head of grain, not a fern...
I'm getting square mini-balls as well... just figured it for a missing texture.
no sound. In Galciv2 can you move the map screen by hitting a side with the mouse as in Galciv1? For sound, be sure to get the "Multimedia Pack" which should appear just below the GC@ Beta in Stardock Central. It includes a few animations, as well as (very good) background music and some sound effects. Screen
You need to click and drag with the left mouse button to scroll the main view. Clicking alone will not center it at the clicked spot.
The part about SP2 needing to be installed hasn't been a problem for me. I've been running without it for some time now and GC2 seems to be running ok, so far anyway. Same for me...

Do you have DirectX 9.0c? If you have any previous versions, the game will simply not run. Not sure if they added a message to that effect in the late builds, but in the initial build it would simply die with a generic error message immediately upon trying to run the program.
I'm not sure if that has been said or not but there it is. Cari already covered that (In fact I think it is stickied) and it is being worked on.
Try checking out microsoft's website, and getting DirectX 9.0c (it is required, no earlier version will do). Link
Bug with the main map screen: borders in contested areas seem to have problems drawing correctly... Here I had just captured Sander II from the Arceans, and my side of the border got very screwed up. (Screenshot:) Link
Time to start the ball rolling on the planet screen, since we've already got threads for research and ship design screens. My take so far: 1) Clicking on a translucent "under construction " improvement on the map should select that item in the queue, so it can be changed or cancelled easily. As it is now, if you have many of the same item scheduled, you have to dig through the list until you get the one you're looking for. Would be nice as well if
Structural doodads... Can we rotate the direction the doodads face? Also, on the sides of the ship (i.e the "wing" point) the doodads face different ways when placed on the right or the left side. For example if I put a fin on one side that points to the back of the ship, the other one will point towards the front. I
Hmm, multimedia pack is helpful... Very nice music
Unfortunately I'm one of the ones for whom the music doesn't work. Guess I gotta go dig up the files and listen to them ouside the game
though it now (and has for some time) costs $60 for the upgrade, and $70 or $80 to buy it from scratch.
I had this problem way back at release. Worked through it with Cari for a while (even got several modified versions of the program itself) but it never really went away. So I just disabled battle display and moved on :p Now I just cross my fingers that I don't find a similar problem after I get my hands on GC2 today (just hope it runs so I can take piles of screenies :D)
or relavent to this discussion. This website is not Wikipedia and is in no way affiliated with it, other than using the same software...
are upgrades to existing structures prioritized by the gov. versus new structures, and whether there is a cost discount when upgrading as opposed to building it from scratch.
thing) so it can be directly included on other sites (so everyone can have a mini-statbot of sorts if they like).
Question for Pat (or whoever else would know): Are there any plans to provide an easily machine readable metaverse syndication system for GC2? I'm looking at adding some statbot-like capabilities to the upcoming v2 Jedi Republic site, and this was one feature that was wanted in GC1, but unfortunately it didn't arise until after retail and the MV budget didn't allow for it. If we can get such a system that publishes MV data every 6 or 12 hours to XM
Moo2 Civ series (inc. SMAC) Age of Wonders Rise of Nations Starcraft/BW C&C Red Alert Series Epic of Northwood What? Never heard of EoN? Eh... well it's my game, so I'm a bit biased :P Pop on over if you wanna give it a spin: http://jedi.galciv.org/northwood We can always use more Galcivvers there, camping out until GC2 is ready :)
'Nuff said.
AFAIK, any GC2 preorders from stardock (or having an active TG.net subscrption) will get you access to the beta.
