buy it online..cheesus. Its prolly not gonna be more than 1 gb ...considering beta size. Secondly, my connection eats gigs for breakfast, I don't care anymore about size of games, digital is the future ...get on the train :) Janster

I think planetary defenses are too strong.. It just takes too many ships to overcome them atm, thus making single fleet'o'doom only viable option tbh. Janster
And red orchestra... and Portal! Janster
Yeah, atm its just about finding the jump in angle, and camp that spot. So that the fleet who arrives will be thrown straight into a battle. Thats just not as fun sounding as you may think. They may have considered the sun as a battelground, but they could have made that battleground far more interrested imho. Janster
I would be epic, if the battlearea was a bit bigger yes... Atm its cramped, and not much can fit before the place becomes a zoo... Just reduce the sun..its not like we're fighting 2 meters from it anyway .. Janster
Having played it a bit, online and offline, I must say I have a few things to add...some which I've spoken of before. I find it strange that we enter a system at the sun..and then move outwards, it would be more interresting if we started at outer planets and moved in.. Secondly I'd like to say that the sun is far to big a chokepoint atm... It will in all practicality decide wether you have control of a system..or not. As all incoming ships enter there, its al
maybe not, but the battlefield itself is just too small for the sheer magnitude of the fights going down there. Janster
On the sun issue, I posted something like that.. I feel the sun is too big a object in the battlezone its in. Thus it becomes a too big obstacle for the AI to work around..and it favours carriers heavily as fighters can move across. This place is to be probably -the- main battlefield of the game..and should have wastly bigger field of battle to play on. Please make it so Janster
I didn't say they have to be removed, but they don't have to show on the system shipview .. Altough that said...whats the point, while you say they can be moved around to change buildorders, you can change buildorders in what you want build first anyhow... A quick delete and rebuild does that. I guess some edge can be had by micro'ing them but seriously..I'd rather spend time microing my caps. Janster
Infact the construction ships serve no purpose now, they can just as well not show. As we use the planet instead anyway. Janster
My friend wins on emperor mind you, he's currently doing the ladder CIV 4 thingie. But its a challenge...and thats the IMPORTANT thing. Sometimes cheating provide that challenge.. I'm currently playing a game of SE V and I can tell you just HOW much this shoddy AI has been ruinous for this otherwise excellent games development. But the devs gotta understand, that NOBODY has made a good AI when the game is very complex so far, best attempt now is Supreme Commander e
Heh, I wash the floor with standard CIV 4 AI, my friend washes the floor with anything but emperor level AI. Games like these need a strong singleplayer performance, infact take a lesson from Space Empires V, no SP = no game. It just takes too long to play SE V multiplayer tbh.. This game here might be less a victim, but still. The AI may cheat, to become stronger..but it can still make attacks, Sword of the Stars AI can cause the game is relativly simple in strategy, do VE
AI has been a hot potato in many cases. Those who have no experience with just how sucky it can get without proper scripting and cheating, may just be silent for a bit, because I have an idea just where this is going. The 'oh noes don't make it cheat I want to win easymode crowd' may find that the setting 'easy' is for them. For the rest of us, we want painful short lives at the end of a gun, and if I can't get that, the game becomes boring fast. Good AI's today a
Options never hurt a game, lack of however has. Janster
Well if you want to discuss realism.. I'm sure we can all say that even with the sun as it is now, its VERY far away from the actual combat.. It's not like we're fighting 10 meters off the corona.. So the scale of the sun could be explained by how far the actual fighting is from the sun. Having the battlefield a bit more clear sounds like more fun to me..but hey maybe make it an option...CERTAINLY it will benefit the AI who struggles like all hell in there. Ja
The ai's tech priorities seems a bit off...in one game , I had colonized my system and half the next middle before the 3 AI teammates (on hard) got out of their own solars and went for me. Experience is that AI's rarly are good with situational awareness. I HEAVILY recommend more scripting, LESS klever AI and make it so that it cheats somewhat at harder levels. Don't be one of those companies that gives us a weakass AI cause you refuse to have it cheat. Unless this gam
A lot of the time, I fight around the sun, seeing as its the entry point to my system, its the best spot to contain any invasion. However, as the sun is in the middle..it has made movement and fighting in that system akward. I suggest moving the sun beneath the plane somewhere to give us more fighting space...in addition ships use aaaaaaaaaages forming up for warp around the sun too...AI gets stuck there all the time. Solve this easy imho by either reducing sun si
I would like to add my thoughts. We need some kinda of 'fleet' manouvre thingie, as ships enter the system in a messy way, and bigger ships get just left behind. Also as I mentioned earlier, I don't like the current way weapons are done. Guns should shoot more rarly but do way more damage, it makes it look way more powerful and cool, instead of having machine guns weapons that somehow just bite away at the enemy. Also, low calibre weapons should really do
you can colonize asteroids then mine the smaller ones in the system as usual with construction ships. Hope this helps Janster
Also the carriers are unarmed ?? They should carry a complement of light guns or something... In general the ships carry just 1 set of main guns that they turn to shoot... This is a bit boring and doesn't make the combat look very cool. They should have turret batteries that fire on targets, so that the ships doesn't have to turn to face targets all the time. Janster
Not at all, tracking problems with big guns usually can remedy that, EVE online certainly uses it with great effect. It's a bit silly to keep shooting those little autocannons for minutes after minutes on enemy ships , and notice that they take little damage. Feels like the ships are armed with peashooters.. Scrap the autofire stuff, and the lasers with tons of pew pew...go for more solid 1 hits, so that the battle looks a bit more powerful. Good example is th
Just having subscribed to this game, I have some great hopes for it. Also hoping to add some info to it, as there is a slight chance they might be heard I haven't played long enough for any detailed stuff, but there is one thing I'd like to give some input on. Its the guns, they are just not....ommph enough, its like watching a machine guns or something shooting. Come o
