Since the Pirates do not have an economy right now, this is PRIME real estate for Star Dock and Iron Clad's famous updates. I don't mind them cheating for now, but in the long run, with them really being a player in their own right, they REALLY do need to have rules that they follow. An economy of their own and motivations from self preservation to greed would GREATLY enhance the game play. What do all you think about how a Pirate economy should work?

There is plenty of discussion in the forums about Love/Hate of the pirates. What I want to talk about is specifically the Pirate’s Economy. The devs have mad a big deal about how the AI does not cheat. But what about the pirate AI. Does it need money from the bounties to build ships? Do they get a cut from any black market transactions? As a beta tester who has been with this project for almost a year, I have come to absolutely LOVE the pirate idea. I didnt like it untill I came to understand the Lor of the game. Then it makes compleat sense and actually works to balance the gave very nicely. While I too agree that the preset frequency of the pirate attacks is a little on the quick side, that is easily fixed. I probably should have said this earlyer, but the machein i was running the game on is a laptop with sub par stats. It was probably running slower then most computer will run the game, the thing i was concerned about though was the rather larg difference between normal resoures and high resoures. It is possible that it was that specific map or somthing. It just seemed i was constantly waiting for my economy to slowly catch up to whatever i was wanting to build next.

Is there any possibility of re-aranging the "porpose" of a given ship. Right now in sins its just alittle anoying to me that each faction as a missle ship, a planet bombarder, a light frigate, a anti-fighter, a command ship, a repair ship... blah blah ext. ext. and so forth. just for the record. The physics involved in actually causing a planet to explode is just rediculous. even if these future races could harness that kind of power, it is most likely the planet would liquefy and then fall back in on its own collective gravity. You cant get rid of matter on this large of a scale. i like the potential of this idea. i think a compromise would be good though. First, i think it should NOT be a hard cap. instead say each layer of research would divide the fleet point usage for that particular type of ship. rather then increasing the "cap" the tech would decrease the amount of points needed to support a cruiser, frig, or cap ship (or maybe leave caps alone the way they are) Second, this would mean the total number of fleet points generated per planet woul

wait... so im tired and slightly confused. DPS stands for what exactly and FF...? maybe ill kick myself for asking as soon as i hit post but its been a long day and i dont quite feel like thinking. and so your saying the lower the mitigation the more damage is done to the ship, but the higher the "harder" the shealds are, thus protecting the ship more in its time of need...? veryy interesting, i was wondering exactly how this worked mathematically. nice to know.
