It sounded to me like he was asking about upgrading units he already built, not updating a current design.

Keep in mind the written directions in game are based on a normally positioned map with North on top and South on bottom. Elemental's camera is off to the side, so when it says East, you actually need to go south >.> Go back a bit towards your city, then start moving south. You should see a wall type thing, which you will now be able to cross.
Yeah, it's not just you. As far as I know, SD's aware of it and it should hopefully get fixed soon. Rather than wiggling the camera around, you can select by clicking on the portraits on the left and right edges of the screen, as long as you know what's what.
you can run the exe through steam by clicking add game/add nonsteam game i have it on mine.
He wasn't talking about running it, but downloading patches off Steam. :P
At the moment, you can't retrofit existing units. If you disband them you get the population back (nearest city), but no resources back.
I don't believe USPS Priority *has* tracking for their shipments. There's an added extra service for delivery confirmation, but they don't track shipments en-route. There's no tracking number to give you, they can just confirm that it was shipped.
I think you're one digit ahead there :P Last night's patch is 1.07, and it loads 1.06 saves fine. You probably won't see all of the changes until you start a new game, though.
I think your best bet is to get on Stardock's IRC and ask for someone higher up, make sure to mention you already talked to sales but need to talk to someone else. As for how to deal with them, my advice, especially as someone who gets to chat with a lot of them here and there (Yay, IRC), is don't get very combative. Your post makes no indication that you would, but still that's my advice. A lot of these guys (and ladies) have been saying up lots of late nights lately and are pretty tired. Ju
Which means you shouldn't delete the folder if you have any custom sovereigns or unit designs. :P Honestly, it doesn't matter what folder you throw the mods in. When the game starts, it reads all of them and it doesn't care where they are. You can stick all the mods into Quests and it wouldn't care :P
I have been seeing the pauses between turns in 1.06 after a couple hundred turns on a Large map with 4 Ridiculous AI. The game actually stopped responding so if you clicked inside the window it'd pop up the Windows "This program stopped responding" error, but would go away after a few seconds when the game woke up. I haven't gotten to that stage in 1.07, though I did send Boogie the old 1.06 save and mentioned that was happening.
You can download an up-to-date version from http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com It is a bit annoying now because the patches are coming quick, but on a fast enough internet connection it doesn't take long and the frequency of the updates will die down. The archives from Anywhere can be installed without an internet connection at all, so you shouldn't have any problems with it.
or hop into #elemental or #stardock channels on irc.stardock.com (or in Impulse go to Community > Chat > #stardock) and ask there. They usually have some support folks around as well as people responsible for staging updates on Impulse, and should be able to help you.
SD is already working on the hotfix for the custom Sov crashes with any talent/profession that generates resources. Yay IRC!

Defense IMO will never work very well for a game with single unit
I'm on the side that thinks the game play mechanics are utterly broken, though engine can probably handle an overhaul of them. But to do that you NEED to go back to the drawingboard (in my opinion) and determine what the core game play features are really suppsoed to be, *and* if you can take all the features you want and make them some how coherent.
I don't really agree with this. Most mechanics are solid, just need a good balance and scaling pass. All the games you li
I think one of the biggest issues currently is that shards are required to do any sort of competitive damage to physical attacks. If shards provided a much smaller bonus, but the base spell damage scaled nicely, then shards would fit in much nicer, I think. I do agree that starting out with basically all the spellbooks cheapens things a bit. I'd rather just have a basic spellbook, and the rest found in-game.
In the meantime, and if it doesn't get fixed in 1.07, you can run Elemental in windowed mode. If the windowed resolution is the same as your desktop, it will have a full-screen borderless window, and you will be able to alt-tab without crashes. Some folks do notice an FPS drop when playing various games in windowed mode, but you can always give it a shot if you have to alt-tab often.
I hope that their idea of "fixing" this isn't to only allow 2 rings and 1 amulet. Champions need all the help they can get to be combat-relevant in the late game. Just limit champions to one of each item. It costs quite a lot of gold to buy all this stuff, if you can't just spam the cheapest jewelry that gives each bonus.
There are much better ways to fix scaling on champions and sovereign to squads than letting t
Like you, I'm hugely excited about Elemental's RPG aspects. As I post this I have a bunch of XMLs open and learning how to make quests. I'm actually making a mini-story quest arc (4 quests, 2 are done and working but need the fluff like proper tiles, proper creatures in battles, etc) that will also reward some caster items which the game is sorely lacking at the moment. It's a fun learning experience as I try to figure out the limitations of quest making (already ran into a few that are kind

And it's not like EVERY car will break down, so it's ok, right?
What? How are the two related?
We'll do better.
Honestly, Frogboy, if you restructure the beta program slightly such that the last 1 (or 2, preferrably) months before launch is spent with the beta testers dealing with a full-featured build (all features and full content), this basically won't happen again. There problem with Elemental was that we the beta testers never got a build we could just hammer for gameplay, which is now the vast majority of complaints other than the OOM crashes (whic

I hate hypocrites, I have been a loyal Stardock customer for a long time (since GC1) but to see them do this is an insult to their customers. I have been playing the beta and could have waited for a finished product, but for the people that just bought the game they should and have every right to be angry. Life's a game of compromises. Some people might not want Impulse on their machines, but Stardock wants to keep updates to those who should get them (people who paid for the game). If it's "enough" that someone doesn't want Impulse for no reason other than not wanting it, it's certainly more than enough for Stardock to ask that people update through Impulse for many good reasons that aren't just "because". 1.07 is supposed to tweak the squad battle mechanics a bit so they aren't as powerful.
The bug was that they could. :) Summoned creatures aren't meant to gain access to your spellbook, but they do need the mana to cast their innate abilities. There are some creatures that spawn with mana that don't have abilities, so they either didn't add them yet or forgot to remove the creatures' mana.
