I see you've never read Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal"
I have. I fail to see the comparison, since Johnathan Swift was being sarcastic and the poster is very serious.
There is so much good response in here I would love to see a developer response.
That's because it's an echo chamber.
All planets and planetoids.
I don't know, I think in early and midgame it is entirely conceivable to be the underdog and come out on top. Certainly not in an FFA map with unlocked teams (Unlocked FFA in Sins of a Solar Empire is like seven wolves and a sheep deciding on what to have for dinner), but on a locked FFA or team maps. When you're in late game, obviously it starts to landslide once you have the edge, but I've seen my empire rankings oscillate wildly throughout the first half and always came out ahead.
and also, starcraft = crappy? You might not like it, but don't dare insult the quality. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it is an inferior product.
If you bought it expecting a game of strategy, you'll be sorely disappointed that it's all about how fast you can click the build icons and get a rush going. I felt burned by Warcraft 3 in the same way.
Not all issues here are steam related. I hope to see you address the gameplay issues I pointed out rather than writing this off as a message only about Steam issues simply based on the subject line. Thank you.
Actually it was. You already identified the problem with the second issue, the guy kept colonizing and you couldn't keep up.
And? The TEC is all-male.
Except the Robotics Cruiser.
Interesting question.
If you're manually clicking your construction frigates and telling them to go build something, you're doing it wrong.
Any one who says that defense systems are worth anything hasn't played against multiple CPU's on Normal on a larger map.
I have.
With multiple AI. forget building defenses.
I didn't.
At the moment, the game rewards your style of play (aggressive), but defensive players should be entitled to enjoy the game more as well. You're being quite an egocentric jerk here.
"Don't yo
First) Relating to a topic about Phase Jump Inhibitors which is being discussed in this forum. The dialogue about the PJI's is that in the beta they used to stop all traffic within a gravity well rather than just slowing it down, thus allowing people to block lanes of space travel (a very interesting concept imo) and it got nerfed in beta because then people would just turtle and defend their superweapons. Now, I think it was a terrible idea (remember this is just my opinion) to trade a p
If there isn't a direct phase lane connection between 2 stars, you'll need to research the long range jump technology (like Mors said), that then allows you to jump from your local star's gravity well to the gravity well of any other star.
You always have to research long-range jumps.
Did you have colonies on these worlds that he was blitzing past? I've never seen siege frigates pass a chance to nuke anything, whether it's a dead asteroid or a planet.
Not to be sexist, but I doubt there will be any; if there are any, 90% of it will be guys pretending to be girls.
Sigh, you know that's only relevant to MMORPG's.
It's the Robotics Cruiser.
It's not very modest, other than the fact you're basically suggesting that it be modded and not addressed by the developers.
I play Gateway and don't have this problem. Of course I was also not a dumbass and quickly expanded to the three asteroid colonies surrounding Gateway so that I wasn't constantly fighting them a jump away from my Xi colonies. It sounds pretty stupid, but you also sound pretty histrionic. So how do I know you're not exaggerating?
What if they just reduce the tactical slot cost for Inhibitors?
My friend had a fully ugpraded military tree as well as a full upgraded set of capitol ships. His highest armored ship was 12, I was advent and my highest armored ship after all upgrades was 14. These were both the main battleships as no other capitol ships had higher. Maybe overall the advent do have less armor, but in the case of the best battleship capitol ship, the advent had more amrmor. Add on top of that a higher shield, its quite useful. Although the advent does have less hull hp.
So what are the different Cap ships- What do they do?
The capital ships for all factions follow the same format The far left capital ship is your direct-combat battleship. Big guns, little support, most of its attacks are either directed at MOAR DAKKA or "tanking" (like the Vasari battleship, which has an ability to make all enemies in a radius attack it...VERY useful for pirates around terran/desert worlds who like to pick off your frigates in early-game)
I guess the upkeep could be dynamic, based on how many fleet points you are actually USING. instead of your max points.
I would like to see this. Sometimes I hold off on researching another tier so I can build up a reserve of resources, and I would like it if I could just research the tiers and not have the upkeep kick in until after I've passed that tier limit. I'm sure that this came up in beta though.
Well, first of all if I'm ever working on upgrading infrastructure in late-game I put the game on pause, especially if it's a two or more system war and my front line is in another system while my moneymakers are in my home system. Battle-wise I always go straight for the capital ships and I'll use abilities with lots of micromanagement. After the capital ships are down the rest of the fleet usually withdraws, but if not I'm confident they can handle it. There are a few times when I
I have spent the better part of an hour chasing a cowardly enemy fleet. How is this fun?
A better question would be: Why? I've asked this at least 5 times so far and nobody really has bothered to answer it. If they run, you should sack their worlds. Yeah, it's anticlimactic, but that's broken AI, not a serious issue with phase jumping.
Especially when you have phase inhibitors installed. I really see no effect from these structures.[
You'd think they'd actually play the game before they came and posted, but no.
Gee Sid Meier, this whole Civilizations game sounds great and all but WHERE'S THE STORY?
