I recently reinstalled Vista on my machine.
A 8600GT can run on max setting? Is it really true?
Probably, but you may be limited in regards to the possible resolution or anti-alias setting. This is based off the fact the card is approximately half as powerful as my card in comparison.
Not really no. Unless the story was fleshed out more maybe (with some actual memorable characters introduced), I really can't find myself attached to any of them.
Thanks for that informa48tive post Lost_WLd. I too am looking forward to the 4850/4870 release. The HIS HD3850 I currently have is hands down the best graphics card I have ever purchased. It just gives and gives and was incredibly cheap (at $286 AUD for what is considered to be a premium version of the card with a custom cooler - its now selling for as low as $200 AUD). It lets me play all the latest games on my 22" widescreen LCD with all the settings on high with reasonable levels of
Games For Windows LIVE sucks. No really. It made it so bloody frustrating just to start playing Gears of War, and this was just the single-player. All the stupid loops I had to jump through before I could play the damn game was astounding.
Sins of a Solar Empire is a good GPU benchmark in regards to seeing how well a card can handle multiple geometric objects I'd say. :)
I wanna see high-res textures (which has been confirmed) and new particle effects for most of the ships (alot of the Vasari captial ship weapons are incredibly underwhelming and not pew-pew enough  ).
@phazon Lol my post about baseless assumptions was aimed at the Original Poster - ironclad not working hard etc . I actually remember I had the reply screen on for ages , because I was going to type a bigger post. You might have ninja'ed infront of me.tho yea lol , I guess I was a hypocrite
My bad. Should've realised that since you weren't quoting me. :)
A gpg type thing? NahhhI tell you what sort of interface would pwn - An IRC Interface. Then Anyone who owns sins and has an internet connection will probably hop onto Online sins. IRC rules
Thats a baseless assumption right there, Mr. Hypocrite. Just so you know, it has been confirmed by Ironclad that one of the causes of minidumps is because of certain configurations of Nvidia hardware and I only mentioned it to prove that this entire situation is not entirely I
Its not Ironclad's fault that there are hardware vendors out there who fail on their task to provide adequate driver updates. From last time I looked into this subject, it is only Nvidia card owners who are getting these issues mainly. It would explain why I have never seen the issue on my ATI equipped system. Therefore its not always just the software developer's fault, so please keep this in mind.
Impulse is the easiest way of downloading and installing the patch for Sins (or any Stardock title). :)
Learn to P2P. ;p I think its strange how people still don't understand it all when it has been used in probably the last few major RTS games I have played (Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes).
Just out of curiosity, is it Nvidia users that are getting these minidumps? Because the only minidumps I've ever got was when I was purposely making the game crash to see limitations of modding it.
I'm glad they didn't include a campaign in this game. It allowed them to spend alot more time towards balancing and making the game bug-free :/ they were already strapped for time as it was.
My sentiments exactly.
To be truthfully honest, I don't really see myself using such a system with Sins. I only really get into match-making in games which are suited to 1v1 (of which Sins is not due to the fact much of the appeal of the game comes from its epicness which can't be had in a 1v1 environment). I guess I'm more of a 1v1 guy if it comes down to a competitive game. However I'd definately use it with something like Demigod. :)
I want to see Sins of a Solar Empire on the Commodore 64. Come on Ironclad and Stardock, you're missing out on a huge demographic here. ;)

I agree on alot of this. I hope that 1.1 addresses the most pressing of these issues (although I think its unrealistic to expect it to cover all of them in a single patch). I hope they change the XP distribution to not be split as well in 1.1, that alone would be a nice buff to caps.
DX10 was never supported by SupCom. The game was hard enough to run as is.
There used to be an RSS feed a couple of weeks back, but its mysteriously disappeared. :(
Its more of the same really. I don't think its worth buying.
The hard AI is brutal. I was playing a quick muck-around game against it last night and the amount of ships it managed to produce was astonishing.
Hehe...backdoor...
1.4 finally lets me enjoy Vasari (because they nailed the particle disappearance bug). Of course I still appreciate the other tweaks made, the updated AI is alot more fun now. Bring on 1.1 and the improved graphics options, I have an uber rig that needs to be pushed. ;)
/signed Technologies are an integral part of the game, I hope they get tweaked come 1.1.
