Well I have no clue why, but all of a sudden, I have been having this odd little bug... I wish to rotate an object around the x axis lets say. But the rotation tool won't allow it. The little circular bar thing is not highlighted and it does nothing. The only one that works is the z axis. Is this really a bug or something I did? Also I have tried quiting the program and reopening it, as well as reseting my computer. Oh something that might help is t

I am creating a mod that involves many new ships, I understand the general design process, but I have yet to understand skins and textures. I understand that they cover the object and affect its design in-game, but what is the difference between the two? Which one (if not both) is the "artwork" that covers a ship such as coloring, and light strips for windows? I am thinking that it is textures, but I'm not sure. Also, how do you create a new texture? Do y

While there is nothing directly wrong with them, and I have nothing against them, I am simply saying what they should do instead of opening it up to anyone even those without experience. I am sure they have good intentions, but I would just like to see what they/he has/have done to act as an incentive. I do like the zero tolerance policy, but the reason I sound so critical is not that I am annoyed, but that I am a pesimist and see all bad and little good. I'm not a very social person, and som

While it is a good idea to have strict limitations, Swiss Knight is absolutely correct, it is the debut of a modding team with nothing to show, and no incentive to join. If I am given firm reasons to join, I'll consider it, but unless the GMT has already done something worth while, don't count on it. If you do something worthwhile in the future I once again being redundant, but I might join. I simply feel though that the team will fall apart. What experience do you have, and if you don't req

Hey I found It!!! It is under string "English.str" Its not an entity, but its definately the right file. Now I'll just find the place. EDIT: Ok, well hadn't refreshed the page so didn't know Aractin had already specified where... Well actually it doesn't really matter where it goes in it, it'll reorganize itself anyways, so yah, happy coding! :CONGRAT:

ok looking for the file... Ahh, so you need to change the graphics in game though.. Ok so here are the lines of code you need to look at: hudIcon "HUDICON_RESEARCHSUBJECT_FRIGATEACCESS_LONGRANGETECH" smallHudIcon "HUDICON_RESEARCHSUBJECT_FRIGATEACCESS_LONGRANGETECH" infoCardIcon "" NameStringID "IDS_RESEARCHSUBJECT_FRIGATEACCESS_LONGRANGETECH_NAME" DescriptionStringID "IDS_RESEARCHSUBJECT_FRIGATEACCESS_LONGRANGETECH_DESCRIPTION" Well hudIcon

Yes it does, upon opening, it a splash screen appears offering updates as well as one that has tutorials. Start with the Noesis ones, I prefer them and just so you know...ctrl D, select point, select ray, and select polygon are your friends. You will use these more than anything else (aside from moving the camera...) Ctrl D is duplicat which allows you to duplicate objects certain faces, allowing something to protrude and having one single object. Also, creating transform groups unde

Well he can't do anything about the way the engine is set up, so he is just telling you so you know. Honestly I don't like it either, because I'm making a new class of ships but one would think they would have more than just three weapon systems. But just so you know, its not literally three weapons it is three weapon arrays. weapons in the same array will have similar properties like firiing direction and possible linked targeting.

What do you define, as "meeting times" Do you mean like you have your own forum, just get on YIM or AIM or something else? Also what exactly do you do? I am currently working on a mod, and am not terribly interested in joining an official "team", especially since many will likely quit after a few months, but I might be willing... When I say what work do you do, I mean like what types of mods do you actually create? Graphics, orverhauls, balance, new races, new ships, what? I am r

How? Why would you want to do that? and you do realize if you can't read the font b e c a u s e i t i s l i k e t h i s, change it to tahoma, trebuchete, or TNR 12.

Umm just sstart looking through the entity files in the text format under reference data if you've downloaded the mod tools. They are pretty easy to understand...

Well I am working on an entirely new class of ships, but there is a slight problem... How do you tell the computer where the turrets are? There is obviously a way, but neither myself nor Soviet911v2 knows what that is...

Right. Unfortunately if the files are closely related, they may overlap, and as such you would need to custom edit the files so they don't crash the game. Basically if one mod says this value is 0 and the other says its 1, something's gotta give, and generally the both do, resulting in a crash. This is very unlikely to happen, but it is a fair warning.

Well I'm not entirely sure how it works either, but the damage corresponds to the direct power of the weapon, research bonuses, and I think to the "good against" type. I think these are multipers that determine what the ship would be even better against. Yes I think burstcount is related to the visual effect. Don't just take my word for it though, wait until someone else who is sure comes along.

So I am assuming XSI is some 3D modeling program...which you probably have to buy for who knows how much...I have solidworks which I won in a robotics competition, and it would normally have sold for 2,500!! ITS JUST A PROGRAM!!! :( Or is XSI a file type? Reference data: I understand that, already started working on it... Galaxy forge: always has worked Developer: know what it is but, just doesn't work, says it encountered a fatal error Particle Forge: yep... doesn't work,

Well of course a dreadnought can, those are giant hulking powerhouses, but I just prefer the Kol because it can take so much punishment without giving in, especially with shield, hull, and armor research, but we are getting off topic...This is suposed to be about the concept (not true) that akkans are good at combat which they are not... Unless you have VERY VERY VERY explicit prerequisites...

I hear it has to do with having .net 2.0 which I don't think I have, but when I tried downloading it, it didn't work said it wasn't compatible but yah, I have a thread devoted to that so yah shutting up now before this turns into spam...

Well Super Capitals is no more, I guess I had a bit of a premonition about that, so I already had one called Standard, this is the exact same data as Gameinfo, so it works PERFECTLY so all I can say is: THANK YOU now if I can just get those other things to work I'll be set to begin modding!!!
