I actually loaded up System Shock 2 a couple weeks ago to kill time till Galciv was released :) I forgot how good a game that was... definately give it a try if you can track down a copy. IMO, it's one of the best single player games ever made. Multiplayer with the patch was fun but didn't have nearly the same feel. ~SDC~

Honestly, downloading isn't too bad of an option on dial-up. The core game is only like 85 MB... while still kinda big, but it's not like grabbing a full CD. The multimedia is what takes most of the space, but you can play the game fine without it until you finish with the rest of it... which you can do while playing. As far as buying outside the US, don't think I can help you out there :( ~SDC~
Done. I thought about that too Nicolas, but granted not very much as I was usually too involved in Terran conquest to give much thought to anything else :) Hell, for a while I didn't know constructors even got a bonus... I just build em, fire, and forget. It would be nice to have fixed, but I'm sure there's a lot of higher priority things :) ~SDC~
Here's a couple I found... dunno if they've been brought up before. First, ships that have just left orbit don't get the speed bonus from starbases in that sector. I started a thread here with more info. http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=41484 Second, one of the crash to desktop bugs in the diplomacy screen has to do with how much cash the other civ has on hand. If they have under 100bc and you try to use the slider to adjust... instant crash. However, you can type
Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I don't remember seeing any posts about it. Not sure if it's a bug or not, but as I've seen, in order for a ship to get the speed bonus from a starbase upgrade, it has to start its turn in that sector. (Correct me if I'm wrong about this) However, I've noticed when ships leave orbit in one of those same sectors, no speed bonus at all. I'm sure it's due to it starting it's turn in orbit instead of in space. So now I just build a ton of star
Hmm... sanctions on a planet... I like it. Like for instance if you choose an evil option (sending the native people to work in the factories for example) you could get a vote for say... A) Liberate the people (lose the production bonus) B) Tax the civ the planet belongs to C) Do nothing :) Maybe a few other things I'm too tired to think of. Gonna have to mess with modding a bit when I get a little bit of time I guess :) Hopefully the UP events are able to target spe
Just tested on a few saved games I had, and that's exactly what it is. Talked to a minor race with 250bc. I made a trade to bring em down to 90... everything worked fine. Tried another trade and used the slider... crash to desktop. So, I guess check their cash before usin the slider till it gets patched. Not saying this is the only problem, but I can recreate this one 100% ~SDC~
The couple times I've had this happen to me, I noticed I was trying to use the slider when they had under 100bc. (the default slider position) When I type in the number instead, everything works fine. Can't say that's the problem till I try it a few more times, but I guess we'll see. ~SDC~
I had something funny happen with this one a couple days ago. I had this same vote come up against me. It was me, the Torians, and the Yor... with the Yor bigger then the 2 of us combined. Well, of course I voted no, but that didn't help and I got stuck with 5%. For some reason I decided to check the UP screen, and it said that the Yor had to pay! :) Checked out my econ screen and sure enough, no extra expenses. Kinda nice having a random bug working in your favor :) ~SDC
Yea, I'm having the same "string not found" bug, so I've essentially had to put my current game on hold. Crippling difficulty... lotta trading goin on. Is there any way to roll back to the last patch till this gets fixed? Preferrably without reinstalling :) ~SDC~
Had the same problem in my last game... lost an economic resource that way. And I was havin a hard enough time balancing the books before. ~SDC~
Yea, that's what I thought at first too. 20 turns later.... ~SDC~
Ahhhhh!!! Now they're doing surgical strikes on my starbases... wish I could rebuild em :( ~SDC~
Are you running the windowed mode client? I noticed that doesn't seem to get updated when they patch the regular version of the game. Of course I noticed that after playing almost 2 full games thinking I was running the patch when I actually wasn't. ~SDC~
This happen to anyone else? Wondering if it's a bug or something I gotta ride out for a few turns (which I have already) but I couldn't find anything on it anywhere. Anyway... In my current game, it's down to a 1 on 1 showdown with the Altarians and we were pretty much even. Well, the UP comes up and we have to vote on a limit for the max # of modules a starbase can have. I didn't know how many they had, so I just voted no limit instead of pulling out then and there like I thought ab
Same here sunac... hopefully they're working on something. They've been pretty diligent about everything else so far, but I'd just like to hear that it's in the works. However, for those who accidentally didn't enter a nickname and are using their real names for that (or just want to change their nickname) I found this link in another thread. http://www.wincustomize.com/editaccount.asp ~SDC~
Does the windowed version get updated along with this, or does that need its own patch? ~SDC~
