Must've missed that part, but that is exactly what i was supecting. DRM doesn't increase pirating, it just gives a "justification" to do it. Also those numbers pretty much say that boycotting DRM'd games is useless, most comppanies propably rather lose few customer to protests, than let their games be subjected to large scale piracy.

I wondered too why he didn't mention DRM free games, and compare their sales figures to games with DRM. Maybe there's not enough data to draw conclusions? I've heard many people say that they bought sins only because it doesn't have DRM, and i've heard similar comments on the new Prince of Persia game (even heard few people say they may not buy it, but won't pirate it either). Evidently sins has sold very good, but what if Sins was a mainstream title? Do you think it would sold as man
Seeing as piracy and DRM are a hot topic on these boards, i thought this might spark an interesting conversation. Mr. Kouroush Ghazi, the owner of the Tweak Guides website, has published an extensive article on PC game piracy, it's reasons, scale, and effects. Give it a read, it's a well thought out, unbiased article.
I loved them both, but found HW2 nicer to play due to the UI improvements. I've heard that storywise it was a disaster, with people refering to the "Dustwars" design document. Homeworld was a thing of beauty, ship designs, story and campaign, music, the first to have 3d movement (AFAIK). It was just great. Unfortunately, i got it so late that graphics-wise it was outdated, but i'm not graphics-(you-konow-what), even though i own Crysis [e digicons][/e] Si
Lessee... 12.00 pm is noon, right? EST is GMT -5, i live in GMT +2, so local time is 12.00 + (2 - (-5)) = 19.00 (7.00 pm), So i guess i'll give it a shot then. Free money (-like credits) is always welcome :)
Now wait until you see what that StarBase can do...
It does something, besides look mean and shoot a lot? Vasari are all about "Phaaaase space", so maybe it can indeed travel between Grav wells. If that's the case, it makes you wonder what TEC and Advent starbases do, TEC's might act as a node in trade routes, with a "+whole lot" to trade, and Advent's might act as a super powered culture center. Do we have a dedicated
IIRC, someone officially said that there was supposed to be a slight delay for the german translation, and other languages too. Try looking for the 1.1 release threads on these forums, you might find some additional information. Good thing my language isn't spoken outside this country, so no one bothers to translate anything for us. Except EA.
That definetly looks... Vasari. Your artists have deserved their christmas bonuses. Or atleast a pat on the back. Now, in the spirit of the season: GIMME, GIMME, GIMME!! [e digicons]:D[/e]
Did you preorder? If you did, you can forget that release date and join the rest of us in wondering day by day if the beta will be out when we get up in the morning, only to find that it's not.
Ah, the joys of unannounced release date, every day is a dissapointment [e digicons][/e] About the shots: Very cool! I can imagine what Vasari and Advent Starbases will look like, but it's nic
And maybe add an unshielded old version Kol to their high-level fleets, like someone suggested way back when. On topic, i've noticed sudden disappearances of credits too, but the cutthroats ability is news to me, and i've been playing since release. [e digicons]:omg:[/e]
I've noticed this behaviour before 1.1 too. It has happened to me only when there are allied and enemy ships (even a scout frigate) on the grav well. As a solution, only listen to the "Hostile forces are approaching/have arrived .." message, the AI doesn't really say anything worthwhile anyway.
1.11 was a hotfix for a resource exploit (according to front page), so if you have altered resourcing it could have an effect. Also, there is a 1.12 patch coming soon, that is supposed to fix the mp desync bug. Good luck with the bug hunt [e digicons][/e] , i know it can be a real pain.
I just used it in a game, and it definetly turns ships invulnerable.
Propably Real Life, the greatest enemy of mods has struck again! I'm not, by far, the biggest Star Wars fan, but i'm eagarly awaiting too. Eville's work on the Homeworld 2 mods was top notch, so i can't wait to see what he can do with Sins. BTW (and sorry for being a PITA) is the Super Star Destroyer in the next release?
Thanks, i quess i'll get my ass kicked next weekend, then [e digicons][/e]
Vasari Antorak Marauder has "Phase Out Hull" ability, that makes ship invulnerable, but also prevents it from taking any action. TEC Akkan Battlecruiser's ultimate ability "Armistice" turns every ship around it invulnerable, but prevents them from firing. There are no other invulnerability abilities, IIRC.
Our delicious mystery, ruined! [e digicons]:'([/e]
I just tried my first multiplayer game, and there's some strange problem. It seemed as if me and the other players weren't playing the same game, my capital changed automatically, and buldings from another race appeared on my planets. Others kept saying i'm taking a beating, when from my point of view i was doing fine. Is this a known bug, and is there a solution for it? edit: i watched the replay, and apparently anything i did was not visible to the other player
Well i just created an ICO account, so you can expect to see me during the weekend, or you may not considering i live in GMT +2 timezone.
In school one of my projects was to make a simple IRC-like chat program. However, my program had a slight bug that caused the server to crash when no one was on it. The solution was what could be called an idlebot [e digicons]|-)[/e] Of course, i excpect that Stardock has higher quality standards :)
You might want to wait a bit more though, 1.12 patch will be coming soon, that addresses the de-sync bug. A test version of the patch is also available: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/331090/
Some strucutres get build 1% and then the construction friagte moves somewhere else - but that might be enough for someone to target it and blow it up???
This happend to me yesterday, but i only noticed it on one structure. And since buildings are destroyable when they are being built, that allows the enemy to destroy them.
Thaks a whole bunch Animage! This is one of my favourite mods [e digicons][/e]
This has happened (or not happened) as long as i can remeber, which is since release. Maybe it's not considered a bug?
I have owned and played this game since it was released, yet i have never played online Yesterday started a game against a hard AI, and the situation is in stalemate, how am i supposed to deal with a fleet with 21 Illuminators, Iconuses and drone hosts? I'd imagine it would be only worse against humans. Besides, i like to turtle, no one likes turtles [e digicons][/e]
