one thing galciv has going for it is ai. it's not just hard. it's smart.

if they had called it something else nobody would have heard of it. think about it. call it stellar emperor with those graphics and it wouldn't have gotten previewed or a big fan base. i have both galciv and moo 3 and galciv is 10x as fun as moo 3 and that's with the galciv beta. but does this forum have thousands of people posting? no. does it get sweetheart reviews on ign? i doubt it. the only reason moo 3 is even beeing discussed is because it was a moo game. moo 3 called something else would
hey they got a galciv flyer in the moo 3 box. i nearly choked when i saw that.
lol. does he realize this is a turn based game?
brad said on the 26th at midnight you'd be able to buy and download it.
having played 4x games since civ 1, i can say that galciv is the best strategy game i have ever played. and that was the beta. i've heard that a lot of good improvements were made in the rcs and the release probably has even more. during the betas of the game it was amazing how much better each beta would be and how quickly those improvements came. the bonus pack has me really excited because i have seen how much these guys can do in a single month.
what is strategy first doing in terms of marketing?
not invasion. just with fleets. it sent 3 ships against a fortified position. the ai in that game is broken.
in a 5 hour game i played yesterday the ai attacked me once.
galciv has an uphill battle. i read somewhere brad pointing out that they were doing a lot of what you mention. that he'd travel and visit with game mags and get barely a mention. moo 3 got the cover of game mags. galciv wouldn't even get a mention. galciv's going to be a hit but a sleeper hit me thinks.
i think many moo players are expecting something different in galciv. i don't want moo flamers here after release. galciv is about building a space-fairing civ. it's not about designing ships. i like the space battles in galciv watching the photons and phasers and stuff go off. but i get the nagging feeling that some moo players are thinking that galciv is what moo 3 was supposed to be. it's not. galciv is what galciv was supposed to be. they are very different games. i've got
the diplomatic engine looks interesting. i'm glad the cheese stuff was removed. was too tempting to rip off minor races.
galciv already went through its rough time in the beta. the game everyone else gets is more like a galciv 1.5. id be shocked if there are any serious flames here on the game. it's stable. the ai is great. the polish is good. lots of depth. the interface is easier than any other 4x game i've played. seriously any reviewer that gives this game less than 5 stars would be suspect in my mind. i don't say that on games normally. i'm old and not a 'fanboi'. i just know quality when i see it.
as a long time gamer who's played too many games ship before their time, it pleases me to no end to see a game that nailed it before it shipped. hell, you guys could have shipped this a month ago and it would have been more solid than most of the games's i've purchased in recent memory. good job guys you really have a hit on your hands. strat game of the year? i think so.
i was lurking on moo3.com and came across the review. they are all saying that the reviewer just doesn't like complicated games and didn't know what he was doing. but they ignore a key fact: THE REVIEWER WAS ABLE TO WIN MULTIPLE TIMES. if you can win a game by just cranking on the turn button long enough there's something seriously wrong with the "strategy game".
what are they saying?
i think 2 months will be too long. but ya i'd wait 3 or 4 weeks after moo 3 is at the store to release.
ya i've read some of the fanboy stuff. i want to get both games but some of these guys take 'blind faith' to a whole new level. i wanna know how any moo 3 person can say galciv's graphics are 'dated'?
i lke the ai asking to trade tech.
i am amazed at the quality this beta has been getting to. most games i buy are a lot less solid than this game. 6 hours of gaming with beta 4z and no crashes yet. it's starting to look like a released game to me.
if iplural hasn't heard a good argument about why iraq needs a new regime then he must not leave his warm leftist cocoon very often to read. here's a good website that carries useful links to news as it comes in http://www.instapundit.com
maybe 20 words per minute. i peck and peck.
reading these responses shows just how intellectually bankrupt the left has become. no wonder the 'peace' movement has no influence anymore.
no you just troll. you critize without giving specifics. i've yet to see even one constructive post by you. you're like a morale leech. start your own thread instead of jumping in this one. the devs need to know what things in the game are working well too.
LOL. typical master lame. you admit to never finishing a game but you are sure it would be predictable if it was. i concur with hamster. galciv is much less predictable. even when i am sure i have the game locked down towards victory the ai will suprrise you. i've had defeat handed to me when i thought victory was assured and it wasn't because of some random event. i don't see you listed in the top of the metaverse. maybe you should try finishing a game.
